Charvel Flying V - Can You Order From Custom Shop?

Wish Charvel would produce Flying V's again (round horn non- pointy). Since Gibson owns the shape, Jackson can't anymore right? Charvel round horn V's are few and far between. Does anyone know roughly how many Charvel San Dimas round horn V's were produced out of 5000?

Who would be the best company to commission a custom build if Charvel won't do a old school custom shop Flying V? I'm thinking GMW since I would want the closest possible thing to an oil finished neck bolt on Charvel V.

I'm thinking about a variation of Robbin Crosby's black Jackson in the "Round & Round" video:

Black w/ white body binding
Birdseye oil finish maple neck & birdseye maple slab board
Reverse pointy "Jackson" headstock
Reverse black sharkfins
Two Seymore Duncan Humbuckers (JB bridge & 59 neck)
1 vol, 5 way switch to split hums to single coil sounds
Chrome Floyd Rose, non-recessed

You could always come up with your own variation on the roundhorn, you don't need to change much about it to make it different enough but you would have to pay the "custom shape" upcharge. What about a roundhorn rhoads?

GMW might do a Gibby-like arrowhead, though. Many Charvel Vs had that. And GMW has been doing the polkadot Vs, so it should be a no-brainer. If you can wait for their build times, I'm sure they'd deliver a great guitar.

I have a friend who has a Warmoth V from the late 80s. It's black/blue/purple bengal, and it actually played realy well. Now it just sits in the corner of his room in a non-functional state...

I saw a Gibson-styled "arrow" headstock on a roundhorn V at GMW today, so yeah they will build that design.

I wish Flying V was automatically understood as "roundhorn" and double pointy V "King V", single pointy V "Randy Rhoades", etc. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] Before the Randy Rhoades and King V Jacksons, the term "Flying V" was universally understood.

Used to have a Hamer Vector with the M. Schnecker graphic. Didn't like the neck.

I like the look of a reverse pointy Jackson headstock on a Flying V body. Guess a custom shop Jackson may be the only option unless I settle on a Gibson V headstock. Want an oil finished neck, that much is certain.

Got this from GMW recently after waiting a very long time, but it the most amazing guitar I have ever owned/seen/played. It's got the lesser known rounded 70's Gibson shaped heastock. This pic barely does the finish justice..in person it is just stunning.
