• Who made Charvie (and Jackson necks) in 80's?

Hi Guys,
Forgive my ignorance - but who made the necks for Charvel (and Jackson) in the 80s - and did they continue making them into the 90s? Did they move on to FMIC along with Charvel, etc.? I'm trying to get an idea of where the neck 'vibe' went after the SD era.

With respect to USA Jackson/Charvel guitars, the guys in the custom shop have always made the necks. Been that way since day 1. Don't believe any other that folks may feed you.

Charvel bought their necks from other suppliers until Grover bought Charvel in late 1978. Contrary to popular belief and mythology, no one at Charvel made a neck prior to Grover owning the company. Mike Eldred and the other original Charvel employees hired by Grover began making necks in Jan 1979 for the guitars they showed at Winter NAMM that year. Since that time, Charvel/Jackson has always made their own necks. Over the years, Charvel made bodies and necks for other companies, including some well known brands.

When FMIC purchased Jackson/Charvel in October of 2002, they retained all of the production personnel. Those people are still making the USA made Charvel/Jackson guitars produced today.

Thank You! I've been trying to tell people this forever!

When Grover bought Charvel and all it's assets from Wayne in late '78, the two Osrad pin routers were still sitting with covers on them. They were brand new and had never been run. Wayne hadn't even bought bits for them.
Therefore until Grover came along, Charvel never made a neck.
Grover got some used bits from friends and started making necks.

Wait, I thought that they were still made by "the man himself" (or so certain ebay scammers would have us believe)
