#8 Regular has landed...

Obviously the serial#'s are all over the place, mine in #6713, finished on 7/27/05 (bummed it wasn't 7/26 which is my b-day).

I am convinced however, that the pic below is a mirage [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] as it took an hour to setup the guitar (there was nothing even close to right on #8). Makes me wonder why my Charvel Standard was great right out of the box, but a custom shop is such a wreck when it's sent out...

Oh man, are you telling me, these things need to be set up when they get delivered? Your not the 1st to comment on the poor setup.

Well on mine the board was level it was just a matter of bringing the floyd down to a comfortable level ..

The guy doing the set up is Sean (or "SS" on the hang tag). I've talked w/ him on the phone and said this, "without a doubt, your set-ups on my 2 EVH Art Series axes kill. Period. And I'm comparing these Charvels to my Suhr Standards AND Tom Anderson Drop Tops, both w/ recessed Floyds. NO comparison."

IF Sean's doing your set-up, then consider it done. NO Plek machine, or boutique builder BS, is gonna come close. High playability, with the lowest action I've experienced.

Well, "SS" did my setup, and like I said, it was as far off as you could send out a guitar. Had to do truss rod, bridge height AND bridge level, and intonation. Once setup tho, the guitar does play great now, no fret or action issues. My EVH and Charvel Standard were basically perfect right out of the box, so I was suprised by how bad this one was.

Not the end of the world...

The guitar sounds great, I love the Custom and the Custom Custom, so i'm a happy camper. Just glad it wasn't a distortion... [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Got mine today..delivered to my work, #8 reverse (#6782). I was gonna post some pics I took but I realized I forgot the usb cable for my camera. This is the first non-recessed floyd I have owned so everything seems really high including the action. The hum seems to sit out a lot higher than my DK-1 but I am sure I will get used to it. The maple looks really nice and feels great, seems like it will take a little time tonight to set it up. The only bummer is a small crack in the clear in the neck pocket, other than that pretty stoked. [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]
