Re: Few clearer pics of the new Charvel Greenie ru

Sean did a great job on the setup w/ mine. I lowered the action just a little bit. Pretty sure the J/C spec is 1.5 mm, & that seemed like about what it was out of the box. Don't have a strobe, but the intonation was absolutely dead on by my tuner. There is just a tiny bit more relief in the neck than I prefer, but the climate here is so different from out there, I'm going to wait a while before doing anything with the truss rod. Can't wait to get off work & play some more!

BTW ever get a Soldano?

[/ QUOTE ]

Vince, nope. I played the Avenger and an SLO. WAY TOO much mid-bite. However, I am getting a Custom Audio Amplification OD100 w/ 34's and a plexi OT. I also have a 96 1959SLP Reissue w/ Mark Cameron. Hopefully one of them "drops" by end of month. And the R/B/W LOVES my Cameron heads. Shit, the Art Series love hi-gain Marshalls in general. Something about a Charvel and an old school 100W Marshall. Apologies for the hijack - now back to your regularly scheduled programing.

Well, "SS" did my setup, and like I said, it was as far off as you could send out a guitar. Had to do truss rod, bridge height AND bridge level, and intonation. Once setup tho, the guitar does play great now, no fret or action issues. My EVH and Charvel Standard were basically perfect right out of the box, so I was suprised by how bad this one was.

Not the end of the world...

Could it be the humidity change during shipping (CA to GA)? I know that whenever I get guitars from Colorado, the humidity change wreaks havoc to the neck . Typical examples are the neck bow increases, causing the action from frets 12-22 to increase, and the fret tangs stick out from the sides due to "shrinkage". And before anyone says anything about the neck wood not being properly cured, these axes are Suhrs and Andersons as well as a few Charvels.

Got mine today..delivered to my work, #8 reverse (#6782). I was gonna post some pics I took but I realized I forgot the usb cable for my camera. This is the first non-recessed floyd I have owned so everything seems really high including the action. The hum seems to sit out a lot higher than my DK-1 but I am sure I will get used to it. The maple looks really nice and feels great, seems like it will take a little time tonight to set it up. The only bummer is a small crack in the clear in the neck pocket, other than that pretty stoked.

Big difference between a recessed Floyd and non recessed. That is the reason the hum sits higher on the greenie.

Hey Kev, I just read your entire blog... nice job, thanks for sharing!

Like Kevin, I'm also relieved to hear that with the exception of setup stuff everyone is digging their guitars. I'll be even more relieved after they've all arrived in one piece! It's pretty rare that I dig the factory setups on guitars, but everyone has their own preferences when it comes to action, etc... Plus, being bolt on neck guitars, things will definitely shift during shipping.

A setup is easy to tweak. Things like color, feel, build quality, neck shape, sound, overall "vibe"... those are a bit more difficult to change.

Though everyone hasn't received them yet, I'm happy to hear you guys are digging them!

I want to thank you all for your orders on these, I really appreciate each of you doing business with me. Thanks!

The blog entry was very cool, Kev! It was great to be able to take part in this run, & can't wait for the next one (praying for stratheads like everyone else). You've played a big role in helping bring back these guitars & have a lot to be proud of.

Matt, you are an absolute pro & it was an honor to do business with you! It was amazing to see how quickly you went from receiving these to shipping them out.

2 more pics, can't wait to see everyone else's!!

When mine arrives I'm going to take a family pic with my wife's new digital camera. I hope it turns out as nice as the pics I've already seen. I think I'll use my singer's corn field for an added Iowa touch. I'll have to hurry - it's harvest time.

None of the pix I have taken really captured the green very accurately...it looks like it will take really good lighting to do the finish justice and I don't have any available right now...so I won't post any pics right now but I wanted to add that after spending some time last night making some minor adjustments this guitar really blew me away. I can't describe how nice it feels and plays and the tone had me grinning all night. The intonation was dead on and the color really needs to be seen to be appreciated.
I just wanted to thank Matt one more time for making this happen and Kevin for all the work you put into it. I couldn't be happier.
