• Name Your Most Magical Charvels

it has to have that kind of neck that plays itself. i've had magic ones that needed a pickup change and i was quite often putting in a different pickup. my russian sub was a magical one, but it needed the screamin' demon removed immediately and a '57 gibson put in it to make it perfect. elvis of course, 1601 daisy, my blood drip with the skull had a whopper neck on it, the fortsworth had a neck to maybe donate a finger for, my quilt top purple firebird which was a jackson custom shop axe had a neck that was ridiculous on it but it was oddly balanced.i think brian's 7-up is a magic one even though i never played it, sometimes i just look at the neck on e-bay or someones site and you can tell if it's a magic one or not. what a guitar company that place was. i bet the factoryseconds and replacement necks, which were probably on a lot of my axes were scrumptious. how can you beat it? you can't. the only guitar i would take over a magic charvel is a '59 flametop les paul so i could sell it for 250k and then grossly overpay people for their charvels with offers they could not refuse. i'd have no problem paying through the teeth for magic. it is costly but worth it.i guess i had about 5 real magic ones out of all of them over the years, and then there were the ones that were good but not the same and they stayed on their stand so i could at least talk to them
when i needed advice or a friend-lol. what's your magic charvel list, new or old?

Well, i always loved the neck on my lynch bengal. My holdsworth neck parts mutt was a lot of fun. Magic, that's hard to say.........amazing, absolutely. The one on my ferrari camo took some getting used to but i love it now!

<font color="yellow">Man...tough question....

I've just recently delved into the world of Charvel-dom and have a few of them.

5174 is a dual hum / kahlered pointy w/ebony board that plays very well and sounds awesome with the Duncan Custom/59N pup in it...great neck on it.

4110 is my "dream" Strathead w/pickguard and OFR. It's awesome....the 59B is an older one that just has "it"...

I think they're both magical...to me anyway....and I have a few more inbound which I'm sure will also be killers. </font>

My sunburst Dimarzio bodied/Charvel necked #1 friggen missle. THAT is a magic neck mated to a resonant body and Tone For Weeks brass bridge...it totally plays itself. I only recently aquired a second guitar, because I need something to fall back on for live work, but this Charvel/DiMarzio parts monster is the only guitar I care to play. I'm absolutely married ot it, and have NO desire to even look at another.

Tommy, it's right there with Elvis, the only other completely magic guitar I've played. Although your blood drip skully was real, real close.

I have one but it is not a Charvel. My korina Explorer. Kills everything. It will be the last to go.

Re: Name Your Most Magical Charvels

#2195 had a killer neck on it with tons of mojo to me. I would have loved to keep just the neck on it but I didn't what the nut noose from the Charvel clan on my nads so I sold the whole guitar I am completely (whole guitar) USA Charveless at the moment and I'll be that way until a Strathead with a stoopid low BIN or new Charvel Strathead comes out.

My other semi-magical neck isn't really a Charvel, its a Jackson woodburn strathead neck. It feels great and was a virgin (NOS) I'm working the mojo on it and it just feels perfect and comfortable.

Yep........Tommy you are right.

That big ol ebony board neck on the 7UP Strathead is pretty magical.

Another surprisingly magical neck is an ebony board ESP neck that was on the 6 string side of my blue Charvel doubleneck when I bought it. That neck is very fat with a distinct V shape to it...not usually my thing, but damn does it play good.
That neck is currently on my black with white guard 1 hum parts mutt that I am currently rebuilding....you guys will see pics soon.

The neck on my Trans blue Charvel parts Strathead is also pretty damn magic, as is that flamey sombitch on my GMW RedRum.

Re: Name Your Most Magical Charvels

2900 Slimer profile maple pointy that is all broken in just the way it should be. Guitar plays great. 5454 is getting there but the Jackson neck she is now sporting does need some more playing time (but I am working on it).

I don't feel bad Tommy at all...its by choice as I'm weeding away pointy headstocks altogether A magical neck doesn't always have to be made by Charvel/Jackson

Re: Name Your Most Magical Charvels

I love my black charvel parts mutt with the 21 fret maple neck, single hum, vintage trem.

It has been the most comfortable and natural feeling Charvel I have played.

Will not give it up for anything.

The neck on my blue quilt GMW. I don't know why, but I can fly on this one, As far as Charvel necks that I've owned
go #2803 the Bengal that I traded to Chucksplatter had the nicest "Charvel" neck that I ever owned.
I'd love to clone a few copies of that neck and built a couple of my own
mutts with them.
The nicest Charvel neck I ever played was my buddys 83 Rising sun pointy.
That was the guitar that turned me onto Charvels.
The thing played by itself.

the neck on my SL2H soloist is pretty killer too..
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?
