5490 had a very magical everything. Not withstanding the fact it toured around the world in 86'with a friend of mine.A band called sticky fingers(they toured with Deep Purple).
As far as Jacksons, SD plate 3099 has a well worn oiled neck, cool leapord looking fire crackle paint and tons of mojo.It sounds so good I'm hard pressed to pull the J-90 and J-200 for the fear of loosing the vibe.
As far as mutts go my offset bullseye/checkerboard 1 hum maple/maple with a floyd rules the roost.
Well....I've only kept the magical ones Noodle boy....of course my Green Reverse HRF pre-pro & #1601....this week my Purple pre-pro & Holdsworth have been kept busy & the Pizza Star & Red pre-pro still haven't seen their cases!! !!
Mine is the one I own....1983, Fender headstock, 1 pc maple neck, Black w/ Yellow stripes, 1 hum (JB), had a Kahler (I bought it used and it had the Kahler on it), Wayne Charvel plugged that hole for me and re-installed the original bridge. The neck has 1 3/4" nut width and feels AWESOME!
in light of a certain recent thread, I think it might be a low blow to comment on your strathead now mr. John, so I'm not going to do it
all kidding aside, can we see a pic of that one?
Rune....LOL....you can comment away on my Fender headstock San Dimas. It's the real deal. I'll try to get some pics. It's over at the Jackson factory right now. We used it in a sampling of old San Dimas era necks for making the backshapes on the current Charvel models. I'll ask Mike Kotzen to get some pics. The body has a few dings....one of which was added by the R&D guys, right on the front and all the way down to the undercoat...OUCH!

so you have a vintage trem back on it? i must say vintage trems and string throughs sound so good , but i have been fockerized by the floyd rose. how many black and yellow strathead came with factory floyd would you say?
Yes, it has a vintage tremolo back on it. It sounds great with that and the old JB. It has a poplar body.
There were maybe about 100 pcs of the B&Y striped Fender headstock Charvel guitars that were produced before they were sent a C&D. They were all made before or right at the time the Floyd came out.
Purchased from Angus Clark of TSO's West touring company, the picture definitely does it justice. The only difference between then and now is that I replaced the neck humbucker (DiMarzio Holdsworth) for a zebra Duncan Distortion. (opposite pattern of the JB that's in the bridge)

I'd have to argue with you on that Tommy, this guitar seems more "golden" to me than green.
