• How did u choose a USA?

As someone who fairly soon will be making the largest guitar purchase ive ever made (probabaly $1000-$2000). Ive been doing alot of research on several guitar companies and specific models that ive been interested in. Ive been checking out Carvin, Parker, Ernie Ball Musicman. Still i notice all these complex very technical guitars with taps and piezo options, and so many tempting features. How did you know (because many of you here have SEVERAL Charvel USA's) that you wanted to stick with Charvel? I mean what really hit it off teh bat?

I have a modded 88' Model II Import and as of now its my main axe, beating even some of my more expensive guitars. However, ive felt a problem with sustain (its FR and Bolt, what can i expect) is there this problem with USA's?

Also, what are the pro's and con's towards USA's and what do they usually run used?

My soloist has all the sustain. I chose a USA (Jackson) because i wanted 24 frets, neck thru, and a floyd rose. Plus Jacksons/Charvels just look cool-all of them. I bought mine having never played a Jackson at all and going on reviews i won it on ebay and when it arived I was hooked and i don't think i could buy another guitar unless it is a charvel or jackson. I paid $1000 for mine, it's a 2001 SL-1 in trans green and the top is amazing. I can't go into any music stores around here because even when i pick up a PRS it doesn't play near what my soloist plays. I am hooked.

I might say your "hooked" or maybe, you've been "hooked".
I think you have been "hooked" up and became "hooked".
Its clear your "hooked".

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

Look at it this away. You like your Model 2. Great guitar in its own right. The USA Charvels com with better components, better trems, and better choice of body woods. Which will most likely fill in the short comings of your Model 2.

Plus for me I'm a bit of a Charvel snob the logo means everything.

I agree with that. And the fact that they take so long to get if you order one gives it prestige. A normal USA Select can take up to 11 months to recieve once you order.

I am assuming you are talking about the new ones and not the orderinal 80s guitars.

Pros: Oiled Neck with the "correct" SD Charvel backshape. Quality components as was mentioned. Non-recessed floyd (if you do not like recessed floyd's - I do not really like them). Great graphics. Its '85 all over again.

Cons. Pricy, CS can take a while and there are not a huge number of the newer ones out there yet on the used market. The used ones are cheaper of course, but not real cheap by any means.

Im sure others will chime in.

Re: How did u choose a USA?

Going way back, I can remember choosing my soloist. Actually played a band mate's Kelly and thought that was a kick ass neck, and those huge frets. It took no effort to play and solo. At that point I had to have a Jackson. So, in '85 I ordered, through a music store Jacksonville, FL of all places, my first two soloist. Eight months was the wait time for a custom. I still have the catalog from which I ordered from. A pearl red and a pearl blue. Two guitars that I still own today. Back then in the panhandle of Florida, nobody handled the line so nobody really knew what kind of guitars they really were until they played one. Today, Jacksons are the same or even better qualities than they were back when I bought my first ones. Go ahead and suck it up, spend the extra money to buy the best quality, finest playing guitar money can buy! You will not remember the extra cost of a fine quality instrument if it makes you happy when you play it 20 years down the road. My Jacksons are like old friends to me now with many memories of being on the road. On the other hand, if you buy POS you'll only regret the purchase and not concentrate on improving your playing ability.

Good luck and rock hard
