Pat, fucking sweet. Nice choice in hardware, configuration and color (I got my Suhr classic in the identical candy apple metallic). Did you disclose the type of p/up's you installed?
cheers mate!

very cool, now the guitar is versatile like it should be.

Bridge position is the original Duncan '78/EVH. Added neck PU is a '59. Awesome combo. Like PB & J.

And, as requested, a pic of the Floyd nut mod...

Interestingly, when you add up the cost of the guitar, the additional hardware, and the mods & refin, the total price was just about the same as a doing a nice Charvel pointyhead custom shop order.

Still dissapointing that I couldn't have gotten it straight from the custom shop like this, though. I'd always prefer that, of course. ...Hopefully, it gets allowed sometime soon.

Looks great Pat!

To others: I don't think it's fair to speculate on JCMI's reaction. Unlike other times when the debate was brought up, nothing is counterfeit on this guitar. He bought a Charvel strat-head and modified it to his liking. Nothing more, nothing less.

Through several other threads we (the JCF public) have let them know that this is what we want. I'm sure they are looking at this thread with interest.

JCMI can take a ribbing just like any other person/member on this board. You don't need to protect the Almighty from us, Tekky.

Pat, you are a braver man than I. Looks killer though - I like the color and the zebra pups. But please don't get any crazy ideas about the Kelly.

I'm not protecting anyone, I'm just giving my opinion on the statement. To me, there's a point where there's been enough ribbing. Again, I'm just stating my opinion. (which I'm sure to some of you carries as much weight as a feather)

pat,
did you lose any of the crunch by routing the wood out for another pickup? you can't tell probably at all right?

Tommy, to my ears, very little difference in tone. ...Yeah yeah, I know. I probably lost a bit with the mods - more so from the Floyd than the added PU route, I'd expect. But, IMHO, most of those types of tone losses are more noticed acoustically. Run her through a high-gain amp, and most folks will be hard pressed to hear it with their ears.

Besides, it's no different than any other two-hum Floyd'd guitar. And this one seems to have a real nice piece of alder to the body. It's heavier than most of my other alder guitars.

Bottom line: she was quite toneful to begin with, and remains that way.

Agreed on both counts, Kev.

And, yeah. I got one of what I'm after. Perhaps someday soon...

In the meantime, she'll look real nice next to my EVH and (eventually) PC1. Not to shabby with the custom pointies and pseudo-stratheads, too.

Looks great but I would have a hard time doing that to a guitar that expensive. Why not do a high quality parts guitar? You could have the same look and same level of quality for a fraction of the cost.
Once again...awesome looking guitar!
