• How to RUIN a perfectly good strathead...

Well, I suppose that depends on your opinion of mods and refins. Personally, I think they're cool if done well. I went old school with a strathead, gents. Just like back in the day...

    Before:

    After:

    - Strip and refin to a nice candy red with fine gold metallic flake. More of a raspberry red, actually.

    - VT converted to a gold Original Floyd.

    - Added neck pickup - a Duncan '59 - along with a 3 way toggle.

It was bound to happen, guys. Since we still can't get them from the custom shop built to our specs, someone was bound to do it. And that someone was me.

And mucho thanks to Paul at Bighead Guitars, who did the refin and all of the mods. Turned out great.

Nice job! Looks great. How did you convert the neck to hold the locking nut?

Post a pic of the nut area if you can, we're always curious as to how it looks....

Hear, hear! Personally, I'd like to get my paws on one of the 25th Anniversary Charvels, then mod it with a black OFR and matching black hardware (tuners, etc.).

It was only a matter of time! I've been tempted to add a Floyd to a 25th, now they're going for $1400 or so....
