I do have to say the bullseye was pretty neat

However, i do like the new mods. Original Floyd, very nice. Idk why but this guitar reminds me alot of some of Carvin's guitars. Gotta say tho, sweet guitar dude.

Dude That rules. With the expection of the color (I have more of a blue in mind - go a red one already) and the gold (I would personally do black!), that is exactly the guitar that I want!

How does the neck on that compare to a standard pointy or the 25th or?????? You have just given me an idea!

The color, probably. Seen a similar color on quite a few Carvins before they went all fancy-top on everything

Re: How to RUIN a perfectly good strathead...

Thanks guys.

Let's see. A lot of questions, so....

- The Floyd nut mod. Not much to see there. They take off the old VT nut and shape a standard Floyd nut shelf. There's a slight amount of overhang by the headstock side, but you'll be poking yourself in the eye with a tuning peg to have to notice it. I'll try to get a pic up tomorrow.

- My (your old ) GMW. Yes, the appearances are similar. That was intentional. Can't go wrong with red w/gold hardware. Classic rock & roll. Not the same, though - I spec'd differences. More noticable than you might think - you can tell better in person.

- Looks like a Carvin? Sorry, man. Not IMHO. It's 100% classic Charvel.

- The neck is quite different from a pointy. (Sorry, never played a 25th.) Rounder and a bit thicker. Still medium thin, though. IMHO, the biggest difference is the 1&3/4 nut. IMHO, it's nice but not "all that". I'd prefer an 11/16th or 5/8ths any day.

- Oh yeah, and to those who preferred the bullseye graphic, let's just say there were a number of factors going into my decision on the finish. First of all, I wanted another plain-janer to better round out my personal stable. Also, the decisions on this guitar happened after some other orders were placed. And, well, you'll just have to wait for those.

It was only a matter of time! I've been tempted to add a Floyd to a 25th, now they're going for $1400 or so....

Looks like you did a killer job with that!
I'd personally be reluctant to mod such an expensive piece but I'm also not very good with woodworking and stuff.

Wow, you replaced a dated paintjob, functionally useless trem, and limiting electronics package with three great upgrades that make the guitar better in every way. Nice!

However, if you were doing it like the modders did it in bvack in the day, it would have gotten a Kahler.
