Earthquake Felt In Mass.
No Reports Of Damage Or Injuries

PLYMOUTH, Mass. -- A small earthquake rattled the ground and a few nerves on the South Shore Thursday afternoon.

NewsCenter 5's Jim Boyd reported that the earthquake, which measured a 2.5 on the seismic scale at the Weston Observatory, was centered two miles south of the center of Plymouth in the Manomet section of town.

The tremor was felt at Susi Gellar's restaurant.

"Five people out there were under the canopy there, and four of them were talking and one was just standing there. He turned around to the guys and said, 'Did you feel that?' And they said, 'No, we didn't feel it,'" she said. "A couple of seconds later the phone rang. My sister called checking on us because her whole house shook and she thought something happened up this way."


Richard and Janice Hoyt were at home when they felt the tremor.

"It went on for about 10 seconds and it was quite a rumble. It was so bad that I looked down in the cellar to check the foundation for cracks," Richard Hoyt said.

"The first thing was the noise -- the rumbling was so loud and, to me, it sounded like a train," Janice Hoyt said.

There were no reports of injuries or property damage.

Very cool indeed - I guess it's mainly down to the camera angle, but the tops seem to vary quite a lot?
