And I'll be surprised if it comes close to an EBMM, Wolfgang or the Art Series.

[/ QUOTE ]

i think the whole story is pure bs. but i think you are not giving Fender much credit here - i think that would simply be a matter of what they were going for. when Fender decides to make a world-class guitar, they succeed. i undertand preferring ebmm, wolfgangs, charvels, etc. for a variety of reasons but quality is not an issue with Fender IMO (which is what I assume you were questioning). i am super impressed with most guitars that Fender is putting their moniker on these days at darn near any price point.

Re: Statements About Charvels and New EVH Guitar

Assuming this is even a legitimate project, moving EVH over to Fender simply smacks of "ESP-ism" - here they have a chance to do an EVH Charvel sig as a USA or Import PRODUCTION model, not just an Art Series high-dollar run but a USA Select/Charvel "San Dimas" offering, and promote the Charvel name, but they would rather use his name to sell more Fenders.
And what better name to attach to introducing an import Charvel line than EVH?

Perhaps EVH is heading in a new direction? More blues oriented?
He is getting older and the days of his guitar hero image are behind him.
Maybe he is going to go all Gary Moore on us?

That is a really nice piece of artwork isn't it. Too bad it's totally fake.

I'm sure FMIC appreciates the buzz though!

BTW the EVH art series isn't going anywhere it will continue on ..

Where do you get that they "don't sell"? I've heard this said several times recently. The EVHs were never meant to be a super high-volume item, and I sure don't see a lot of dealers holding onto much of them as long-term peg warmers. (...The few that do are usually just charging way too much for them, which is a a statement about those dealers, not the guitars.) Heck, I ordered mine within days of them being announced at NAMM and didn't get it until amlost a year later.

I certainly don't have any sales figures but, as best as this outsider can tell, they've been about as successful as one can expect for a high-priced, limited edition custom shop item. Mission accomplished, as far as I can tell.

Does Eddie even still play guitar? Why would anyone give him a new signature model when he doesn't even make new music with the ones he's got?!?

Re: Statements About Charvels and New EVH Guitar

I never said they didn't or weren't selling any.

I just stated my opinion in regards to the Charvel Eddie sig guitar. Aside from it being a "stripe eddie guitar" its not that great of guitar imo. Obviously, the strathead is a huge factor for me, but the whole eddie and stripe thing does nothing for me at that cost. Take the eddie name and stripes away and you have a bare bone charvel, thats probably worth around 1,400 in value. Personally, I'd love to have one, BUT, I most certainly won't pay 2,300 - 2,600 for one. Thats just me. I think the guitar is overated and its not all that to me. To those that have one, two or three...wonderful I'm happy for them. Its still doesn't change my view, I think they would sell ALOT more if they weren't as exspensive as they are.

I can see where it seems that way to you.
I should've included the word "better" after the word sell, in the top quote/statement.
Sorry for the confusion.
