Simple preference!!IMO,better wood,better quality,better feel,better everything!!

Also,I prefer old Duncans & Dimarzios to the new ones,I prefer the old Kahlers & Floyds to the new ones!!

IMO,no reissue can touch the feel & sound of a guitar with twenty plus years of play wear, guitars can be reliced, but they aren't broken in till they are played alot!!

Compare a 59' Les Paul to a new Reissue,I'll take the old one everytime!!

Show me another guitar where the reissue costs twice as much(or more)than the original??!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

IIRC, the ORIGINAL builders of the 59 Les Paul are either dead or still in Kalamazoo, MI. Jackson still has Mike Shannon and many original guys building the guitars. In addition, if you compare the quality and consistency of old Charvel guitars vs new ones, the new ones blow them away. 25+ years of experience and technology make a big difference. I think the preference comes from the guitar being "broken in".Nothing wrong with that.Thats why Fender dos thier relics IMO.

Chuck and many others prefer the old ones, Ralph and many others like the news just as much as the old ones and like the options of having one made exactly like they envisioned it.Both sides have the rights to those opinions.

I like the parts mutts Charvies.Usually well broken in and i dont have to worry about nicks and bruises.

I do like the option of having my own graphic or color scheme.

Just because Mike Shannon built it does not make it worth $2k plus, that is a matter of opinion!!

Whether the old or new are better quality is also a matter of opinion!!

No matter how many times you repeat your opinion it does not make it the only opinion!!

Whether you like it or not John,I have my own opinion!!

          Opinions are like....ahh what's the point??Nevermind!!

Monkey Bars is a great tune. How's that for an obscure 80's band reference? Anyone that hung out at Hammerjacks in Baltimore is well acquainted with that tune - that's when the women would jump on the bars to dance.

                              To All:

11 pages of threads!! WOW!! Took me 2 days to read them all (I get interrupted WAY too much with this work stuff!). Anyway, I just want to say: Difference of opinion makes the world go around - and that's what makes life interesting. I have my opinions, you have yours. Good, bad, or indifferent, we're all entitled to them. I repsect what everyone had to say and appreciate the candor. In the end, we all have a passion for Charvel (and/or Jackson) guitars (and basses!).

Whether or not you agree with me, I'm always open to hearing your ideas and comments. I get comments on here, I get comments from dealers, and I get comments from our sales reps, which allows me to learn new stuff every day. I think it's great. Like the rest of you in the workforce, I'm a busy guy and sometimes I don't see the forest for the trees. Sometimes a comment will make me go "Hmmmm...." - and that is a good thing! (although sometimes the comments make me go "ACK!").

Regardless, let's keep the door open, express our views politely, but with passion for what we all love - the guitars!
