I know this has been posted before, but the search function is pissing me off. Is the Charvel EVH neck similar to the Peavey Wolfgang - EB/MM EVH neck? Or does it have a feel all to it's own? Also, what are the impressions of the Fender pickup in the Charvel EVH? Does it compare to the Duncan 78 that's in the 25th Anniversary (which tends to be very similar to the Duncan Custom/Custom)?

Re: EVH question
I was under the impression that every neck for every EVH sig model was a replica of his old Charvel neck - from Kramer to EB to Peavey I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Re: EVH question
the pickup in the evh is fantastic. it is a very full sounding pickup with very good harmonics. it is very touch sensitive as well - I tend to play with my fingers (sans pick) a lot and these guitars respond very well.
as for the neck carve, it is not the same as any charvel I have. i'm not sure but it was my understanding that the neck shape was taken from one of eddie's kramers.I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

Re: EVH question
Tim, how would you compare the EVH to the 25h Anniversary? I understand that the feel will be different due to the neck and that the trem is different. But In terms of tone and playability, what are some of the characteristics each provide?

Re: EVH question
+1 to what Tim said about the EVH's pickup. It's pretty sweet. As compared to the Duncan, they're quite different, and seem to be planned that way.
The Duncan goes for more of the early VH tone, like on VH1. Think of a strongly overdriven vintage-style tone. Early "brown sound"-ish. The Fender custom PU in the EVH is more like the tone for latter-day VH. Ballsier, with more mid- and bottom-range punch. Think of his tone on the new tracks from the greatest hits.
As to the neck carves, I can't speak to a 25th - never played one. As compared to the Bullseye Retro strathead, though, the differences are again quite noticeable. Generally speaking, the Bullseye is a thinner, flatter backshape. Not quite like a pointyhead Charvel, per se, but with more meat to it and a slightly rounder shape.
The EVH neck is nice, too. The offset backshape is very comfortable - thicker on the bass side, thinner on the treble. Arguably, this neck (as well as the EBMM & Peaveys) are all modelled after Frankie. And - although there's some debate about it - that "Kramer" neck on Frankie supposedly was originally a Charvel neck that had the Kramer headstock grafted onto it when he started that endorsement. So, one could argue that it's truly a very worn and broken-in Charvel profile, 3 or 4 generations removed.
Also, I'm starting to learn that - with rounder backshapes like the stratheads - I prefer thinner nut widths. So I definitely prefer the EVH's 1&5/8ths. The Bullseye is 1&3/4 - my least favorite. (Although the 25ths were 1&11/16ths, so take that for what it's worth.)
And don't forget that the EVHs have skinnier frets. Not like the ones on a KV, say - much more comfortable than that - but they're not true Charvel jumbos either.
At the end of the day, I'll take an EVH any day, though. The Floyd is a big clincher for me.

Re: EVH question
I'll give my 2 cents. My EVHMM and wolfgang don't have the same neckshape. The EVHMM was a direct digital copy of the frankie. The wolfgang was a modified version with a more pronounce offset. The Charvel I played reminded me more of the wolfgang neck that the EVHMM.
