Re: The EVHII Holy Grail

Excellent discussion here! Maybe you Floyd experts can tell me what I have here:

This is a very early fine-tuning OFR. Difference include:

1. Base plate is slightly longer
2. screw-in bar is slightly closer to the saddles
3. saddles are different, taller and shorter
4. string blocks are different
5. base plate is more of a brushed chrome
6. various screws look slightly different
4. lock nut screwheads are taller than normal

OK, what is this?

DUDE! Am I gald you posted that photo! That is identical to the one I was talking about posting a photo of. Now I won't have to dig that thing out of storage!!!!!!

That is the earliest fine tuner Floyd that appears on US Kramers from 1983. Freakin' rare!!!!! Non-diecast baseplate!!!!!!! Should have paper Schaller sticker on bottom. (Sometimes they fall off.)

Your string tension guide is wrong. Should be the round stubby one.

Re: The EVHII Holy Grail

It came on my 82 Kramer Pacer? (I think its a Pacer)I put a new neck on it in 89, and when we did that I got rid of the sting tree thing. I can't post pics but I can take some and e-mail them to some one if you would like. I also have one that I put on my 82 sd exp. I think I got it in 83 or 84 but not sure.

The case that came with it was black, but an airline broke that. It's now in a flight case.

Re: The EVHII Holy Grail

So how do you know it's an 82? Do you know how to date a guitar by pot codes?

If not, take the plate off the back and post here what the numbers on the potentiometers are. should start 137.....

Re: The EVHII Holy Grail

Good call Eric, it's all original(even the string bar) from a late 82 Kramer Voyager(Star). All the little screws and string blocks are silver.

Man, this thread is making my head spin!
I had an old white Kramer in the mid '80s with no fine tuners that I wound up selling. I still wish I had that guitar now!

The serial number on mine is B4238. The electronics are all original and there are no pot codes, just a "A500K" on each pot.

What makes think the string retainer bar is stock? I have never seen that one on the earliest Floyd equipped Kramers.

Well, I'm assuming the string bar is stock. I know the history of the guitar and the original owner. Everything else on it is bone stock, electronics, pickup, everything. Who knows, maybe it was replaced???

You are right, it must be rare, I've never seen another like it and I've seen million Kramers and at least 100 with non-finetune Floyds.

I changed out all my guts and pups in 85-86. The plate number is c7227 made in the usa and it's kinda of narrow.
