Pickguard chavels...?

I'm curious as to when and why charvel stopped making front routed guitars with pickguard. Any ideas?

I don't think they ever stopped making them per se its just that the rear loaded body became way more prominent and more associated with the superstrat concept.

Are you specically asking about San Dimas Charvels having pickguards or in general?..
The San Dimas guitars were made like that right up till the end .. here's my 01/86

I guess I'm sort of asking in general. Personally I think they looked real cool and was curious why these new charvels aren't like that.
