Do Charvel pointys all have a skunkstripe or not?

    Do Charvel pointys all have a skunkstripe or not?

    Over the past year I've looked into the history of Charvels, and studied the real and fake, and I'm still not sure if pointys all have a skunkstripe on back of the neck or not. I'm pretty sure it's a semi-sure sign of a true strathead Charvel, but what of pointys?
    What about Jacksons too,did they?
    I've re-read the "fab fakes" section of JCW.net, but it doesn't really address pointys there.
    So, what is the skunkstripe story? Thanks anyone.

    out of all the pointies i've owned (over 20) i've never seen a skunk stripe on one...doesn't mean they don't exist...best way to tell a charvel neck is by (hopefully)...gold logo with made in usa underneath, 12th fret dots are "cross-eyed", work order # or other scribbling on butt of heel...when all else fails, pick it up and play it...for some reason i can feel if it's a charvel after a lot of experience with them...can't speak for the pre-pros tho, never played one...d.m.

      Cool....thanks for the goodies. After reading the fab fakes section, it makes it seem that ALL Charvels have the stripe. If you've had 20 of them, I'll sure trust you that they don't on the pointys. The one I have has no stripe, so I'm not worried anymore. It's real.

        I'm sure there are one or two, but no, pointy Charvels don't generally ever have skunk stripes... only Strathead Charvels and Jacksons have skunk stripes.

          the ones with the non tilt back kramer type headstock DO hoave skunks. ive only owned one & BROFFs explorer bass same head stype also had skunk stripe

            If the neck is made out of one piece of wood (no scarf joint) it had a skunk stripe, Strat, Gibson (hockey), and a couple of the first pointys had skunk stripes. Once the started tilting the heads and changing the location of the truss rod adjustment screw the truss rod was placed behind the fret board _ skunk stripe was no longer used.
