i notice that older charvel owners will often include the serial number of their guitar. is there some reference list or something that can authenticate the guitar through the serial # or is it just a F.Y.I. throw in? [img]graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]

Yeah, it correlates the year of the guitar and to the factory build sheet which will give you the date it was built and all of the options chosen on the guitar. It will also give you the dealer that order the guitar. A great documentation by any guitar manufacturer. Also, gives you the work order number on the factory build sheet which will correspond with the work order numbers written in the neck pocket and on the neck of the guitar. Clear as Mud?
