i don't know about this one, but there would be blank ones left over from when production ended and there was a legit blank proto plate on eBay about a year ago. It was on a mutt with a orange flamed gmw body. But I don't think the proto was painted.

yeah i agree the pic looks like someone buffed out the serial#s. i know sometimes they really werent stamped that deep. I would love to compare it other or see it up close.
there are actually 2 different plates, maybe more???but ive only seen 2. I cant tell for sure from the pics but it looks like it uses the old style writting w/ curled Ns were they hang down. the other type is much straighter.
I think the usual suspects will be bidding & winning this auction anyway, im surprised it hasnt been backdoored YET.
