  • San Dimas siting at a local GC

    san dimas 6790

candy red single hum strat body, original floyd rose, pointy headstock, gold logo. the clear coat stuff on the bottom of the headstock seems to be coming up a little.

maple neck, dark rosewood fretboar, might be ebony, i dunno. 1 seymour duncan. of course the strings were rusted and the action was garbage so i cant say it plays good, but they are asking $1199.99. whats the lowest do you think I could talk them bastards at Guitar Center down to? I was thinking of going back there, playing it for a while, and when someone comes up to me i would say "eh I can only spend $700 or so"

what do you guys think? Ive been dieing for a single hum strat, and it doesnt get much better than a san dimas charvel right?

Sounds like a cool guitar! I've never had much luck dealing with GC. The GC I normally go to would probably let that guitar go for $1000. Just depends how long it's been there and how bad they want to get rid of it.

6790? That would be a new one, no?

That number sounds like a new one, but clearcoat coming off the headstock, sounds like an old one?

i guess i'm lucky. a good friend of mine runs the guitar section so he hooks me up pretty damn good. good luck. just bug the living piss out of them about it. maybe if you bug them enough they'll get tired of you and wanna get rid of it just to shut you up. i've tried it before and it works.

That is reasonably priced, one of the lowest prices I'd heard of!

I agree, use the clearcoat problem as a price dropper! Good luck.

I thought the same thing you did at first. It's amazing how many they've cranked out in the last couple of years.

my star is 6906 and is stamped "MAR 14 05"
they're definitely that high in numbers
but i too wonder bout paint chipping and rusty strings
700 would be a cool deal though LOL

700 is too low to get to

I think 1k is probably about the best you´ll go, and I could imagine that already being below cost......

The NAMM plates were up to 7000. I think the Traditional that I'm waiting on is 6951. I think the devil-girl one was 7000.

PS - there's a 2-hum Copperhead San Dimas Standard at the GC on Halsted in Chicago. It's hanging high near the entrance so nobody can touch it. The tremolo needs adjustment. Heaven forbid anyone at Guitar center cares about the condition of their current stock, or how to fix it.
