  • Custom Shop Charvels at Online??

Anyone check out the USA custom shop Charvels at Online Stage Gear? They look nice and the price is nice as well. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Yeah, they do look nice. Matt is a great guy to deal with too.

Those guitars were shown at NAMM '03. There were a few others, too. I believe these were prototypes for a new USA Charvel line that was in the works before the Fender buyout. It seems that effort was subsequently aborted/changed to what appeared at NAMM '04, which are more true to the original San Dimas Charvels.

I imagine some purists might stay away from these ones due to the untraditional psuedo-stratheads and recessed trems. I also imagine that, like the mid-90s reissues, they're pretty damn killer guitars in their own light.

I must admit, I've been tempted to give Matt a call several times. I really dig the candy green one.

P.S.- Also, notice that those have the original-style 3D neck plates, and were made in Ontario before the custom shop's move to Corona. I believe there were less than 40 or 50 Charvel guitars made in Ontario with those plates. ...And, of those, 30 were GXP Bullseye Reissues. A fairly rare feature.
