In general, are there any added advantages to the Custom Shop if someone wants the same specs as a standard (alder body, maple neck, 1 hum) other than a custom design, pups, fretboard, etc.

In other words, am I going to get more attention to detail, a great neck, if I go custom. Locally, the standards are selling for $1250, and though I have a design in mind, perhaps an ebony fretboard, I couldn't justify and extra $600.
