Re: My First San Dimas Charvel

i have a twin to that in blue. i think there is a thread out there.....
they're such sweet playing guitars. 20 years of playing time really does wonders on an oiled neck. i havent played anything off the wall at any guitar store that felt as good.

(except last week when i snagged an '85 sd rhoads off the wall at VA beach guitar center heh heh more on that later...)

congrats on getting an excellent guitar!!!!!!!

btw... are there that many san dimas guitars in the uk?

Dude, could I send you the number of my lawn guy?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Hey Shawn, It never stops raining here in England so I've not had chance to cut the grass yet!!!
I took her into work today and spent a bit of time on the workbench. The action is now superb and she plays like a dream. I shall be on the lookout for a Floyd version as soon as the credit card is paid off!!! Thanks everyone for the nice comments.
Cheers

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I actually got her on e-bay from a guy called Chris.
He kindly agreed to send the guitar over from Saugerties, NY State. I've only ever seen about 5 San Dimas built guitars offered for sale in this country in the past 15 years!! My only hope was on the Bay.

Hey Jacksonwolf bro you are from the UK too!!! Man that is a nice score what a truly beautiful guitar one I would be very proud of. Yep bro I am still searching for a real San Dimas and you're right here in the UK they are like gold dust virtually non existent so I am planning on making my own as the chances of getting one is "O" so I will make one so I can experience what our bro's stateside have known about all these years, I think my only option is to either source parts to make one or take the plunge and buy one.Regards Kammo1

Re: My First San Dimas Charvel

Just do what I did, e-mail whoever is selling one on the US e-bay and then have a bid. Because of the strength of the pound against the dollar, now is the time to buy. This one worked out at £497 (plus postage and Import duty/VAT which was another £200)!!!!!! I was about to build a replica and I was only after a Body on e-bay. Then I saw this guitar and the rest as they say is History!!
There are a few others around in the UK, I saw a Tele about 4 years ago in Denmark Street and there was one in Guitarist magazine a few months ago but I think the seller was after about £1500.
Anyway, good luck in your search, If you see one, Grab it with no hesitation, these guitars are fantastic!!!!

Steve,

Another corking guitar for your ever increasing legion of the damned. But no schaller floyd rose, what is this madness?

As far as your lawn goes, my attitude is that a mans turf is his own private kingdom. But I culd sort you out a nice bit of shrub if you were after it.

Hi Nick (welcome to the board!!!), the next one, probably a Star if I can find one, will hopefully have a Floyd fitted. It will be, however, the last guitar I buy even if I live another 100 years (Yeah right, you know what I'm like with California's finest ). I'll bring this one into the shop for you to have a play but I guarantee you will end up catching the San Dimas bug!!

Mate,

The list of bugs (guitar related of course ) you have given me has shocked my girlfriend, and my bank manager wants me to get vaccinated.

You have already got me addicted to Charvels, and schaller bridges. Please no more punishment for my credit card.

BTW I was already addicted to beer, motorhead, and nubile blondes between the ages of 18-23. You cannot claim victory for those.

Still I look forward to seeing the San Dimas in the flesh.

Steve,

Just a quick message to say thanks for the demo of the guitar on tuesday.

What a fantastic guitar, the neck particularly was surprisingly easy to get on with. I really loved that unfinished feel.

I had better get the sand paper out!
