Very nice Charvel Kevin, and +1 to Shawn. He slowly attaining the title guitar "broker". He's already made me "broke" once.

Yeah, glad it got there! You guys are over anazlyzing why I sold it. Kev was looking for a 25th, I had 3, done deal!

I absolutely love the 25ths, and for the record, I like the one-offs as much as I like the standard cherry-burst. The one thing to remember about the cherry-burst, it photos like shit. Ya gotta see it in person.....

Congrats Kev, thot one smokes. Shawn, I had no idea you would part with it

For what its worth, the 25th are very underated by Charvel purists. If you ever get a chance to own one you should grab it. I think theyhave monster tone

                      Re: Charvel 25th #98 Arrives

Either the red doesn't photograph as well as the cherry and amber or the top isn't as nice as the others I have seen. Aside from that relatively minor detail those are just awesome looking guitars.

                          Re: Charvel 25th #98 Arrives

Thanks guys and especially Shawn ..

Shawn knew I had been looking for something special and we had discussed somethings on the phone not long ago and he was gracious enough to let me in on the red one. His pm actually said .."would you like it? If not it isn't for sale"

I think it was really nice of him and I beat the decision up for a day because I didn't want to grab it for the wrong reasons.. I wanted it because I liked the guitar and not because it was rare...

To answer a few questions ..

                          1) The Neck- The neck on this guitar is awesome and the jury is out because I have had a busy weekend and not had a ton of time yet to make comparisions. Early guesstimate is that this neck is reasonably close to my 1986 strathead which is also an 1 11/16 nut.

                          2) Tone- Amazing to say the least. The Duncan 78 is an awesome pickup and has such a nice open tone to it. I had already been a bit of a fan of this pickup because Lloyd (guitarexpess)had one hand wound for me for my black and white bullseye involvement. I think the combo of maple on mahag with that pickup is a winner. I had actually called Sully and had the guitar plugged in and the first thing he commented to me was he thought it sounded good even over a phoneline ..

                          3) The Top- Figured tops do not photograph well at all and the red 25th is no different. It just doesn't translate well. The top actually has a velvety look to it because of the flame. My Les Paul is a good indicator of this phenomenon.. If you hold it in your hand you see little to no figuring in the top. Put the guitar under the film and you will start noticing flame! Same ring true of my cherrybust Charvel that everyone seem to love.. the camera really shows the figuring... I think this holds more true to guitar that don't have really tight grains ..Now to relate this to the 25th.. My SDIII has an awesome quilt top that has a very deep look to it and it NEVER photographs the way it looks and always looks much duller in photos.

                          4) Pinstripe- Yes the pinstripe is "painted" on the edge and it really adds a bit of class to the guitar... it's that one minor detail that really puts a guitar over and to me that was it .

Kevin L hit the nail on the head. I've been in the factory when these necks were being built, I've held Serial -001 and whether these guitar were dead on or not they aren't Fender and are very underated. They are well made guitars and they will definetly find their way over time into collector circles as they are monster guitars...

                            Re: Charvel 25th #98 Arrives

I figured that was the case, and I've noticed pretty much all SD III's and SD IV's photograph badly, in the sense that the tops are really much nicer than they appear to be. I think alot of it has to do with the fact that certain colors don't photograph with figure particularly well. Thats just my guess though.

Wow, those are sweet! I'd take one with a neck pup, Ebony board, and a Floyd though.
