Re: Strathead Speculation - What\'s Next?

I don't see why they'd discontinue a line they haven't even given a fair shot to.

The new USA Charvels aren't even out yet, so how can anyone know how they will sell?

Re: Strathead Speculation - What\'s Next?

I'm jsut doing what the author of the thread wanted.
Speculation.
The 25th sold under 100 and from what I've seen/ heard, the retros wern't exactly being ordered in numbers either.
I just don't think that there is a sizeable market for these guitars.
Again, it's just Speculation.

Re: Strathead Speculation - What\'s Next?

Well, at least one part of my (months ago) speculation has turned out to be true. They're obviously waiting for Summer NAMM to do whatever it is they have planned.

As to discontinuing the USA Charvel line, you've gotta be kidding me. The line hasn't been released yet, nor have they even put out a catalog with them in. Could they fail? Possibly. But, with the proper product and marketing, that's a remote possibility IMHO. ...As to them not selling? I've ordered one, so . (A USA pointy, I mean. I'll order a strathead as soon as they give 'em a Floyd and multiple PUs.)

I read an article where the new Dokken guitarist is using new Charvels.
Check out thier summer tour.
We will see some of new Charvel guitars in action.

I personally would love to see some simple solid color 1 or 2 hums Charvel with Mapleboard.

The line will do fine in it's niche market, and I think FMIC is comfortable enough with the Jackson #'s to know that Charvel is viable and valuable to keep pushing.

I think that the next one will be the classic hot rod flames design.

I actually just had this conversation with my inside FMIC rep a few days ago.

First off, whatever they're going to release in the Charvel line, it'll be done at one of the NAMM shows. From what I've heard they've got big plans for Charvel. For those of you who are saying they're going to discontinue the line, no way.

Regarding the Bullseye and Star Retro guitars, the deadline for those was back in April. If you wanted one and didn't order it from a dealer before that date, you'll have to wait for one to show up used some where. FMIC is only building as many as were ordered and they're done accepting orders on them.

And Spider Riff... I've got a 25th here. I'd be happy to beat ANY price you've found on it!

Lets face it all it is a vintage trem one humbucker a bolt on neck and body. Granted they are nice pieces of wood but . The San Dimas reissues were very nice and half the price. If they wanted to push numbers on those all they would have to do is either load them with options or cut the price. I almost bought one but I think for the money I'll be happier with the Big Red Prototype.

Re: Strathead Speculation - What\'s Next?

I agree, the 25th was priced way out there.
It was like making a point, "Charvels like this will be CS quality and from now on will list for? ahh...., uhm?.... over two grand?!"

Nice looking and everything, but there ain't much to it.

Look who's talking here, I felt for it and ordered a Bullseye.
The thing about it is that the Bullseye is not quite priced up there and I always wanted a Bullseye. During the 80's I could barely afford a pack of strings, so looking at Jacksons and Charvels behing the music store counter was a thrill for me and my buddy.
Now I have a job and for the grace of God, I WILL HAVE ONE!

I don't know what the future holds for the Charvel line. If I had to guess I would say that FMIC will restore its build quality and reputation by being a no frills, well built player's friendly axe. FMIC will make them scarce and rare, therefore expensive and exotic while providing FMIC with a sweet markup.
There may be a US line to get the name fresh out there, but if you want the real thing you will eithe have to order it or watch for selected pieces to hit the pricey, collectors market.

I can't wait to recieve my retro bullseye. Matt, if Charvel continues to make Dimas Stratheads, I may as well keep the checks coming (AND, get a second job as well).
This whole thing seems like a dream come true. Charvels again!!
