Recent EVH Tribute?

Just curious about this one:









That showed up on a shop's site in the last few months as one they'd sold. Granted it could be an old one they procured somewhere but it's got the newer non-strathead ("San Dima" or whatever they're calling it) headstock. I didn't realize that Jackson would still do EVH guitars. Anybody have the scoop on this?

I thought so too Ron. It wasn't described at all, the pics (as above) just appear in the "Sold" section of their site. I just thought it was odd that there was one new enough to have the new headstock.

Maybe it's not a factory paint job.

Could be an aftermarket paint job but they claim to be a fairly large USA Jackson dealer so I'd think the liklihood of them passing off fakes would be fairly low. They're in south Texas, not Japan and that's a "made in U.S.A." decal on the headstock so I'd guess it's a one-off rather than an overseas model but I'm puzzled also.

Yeah, I meant a USA model special for the Japan market (sorry I wasn't clear). I think they've done that before with some of the high end Japan-only guitars?

That picture has been on their web site for a very long time, guys - at least a couple of years. Not a few months. I definitely remember seeing it at least that long ago.

It's clearly a custom shop order.

that's odd, USA Made 24 frets, funky headstock. Los music does order some nice custom pieces and usually have a high price to go with them.

Yep, they get some interesting stuff. I almost bought that arrowhead V a few years ago but by the time I convinced myself to take the plunge someone had picked it up a few hours earlier. I'd still like to know where that one is. [img]images/icons/frown.gif[/img]

a red white and blackversion has been at a dutch shop (American guitarstore) for some time now (they bring it every time at the vintage show in Veenendaal as a demo guitar for their amps) I didnt like the the headstock so I did't ask how much they wanted for it)

I think he meant the red/black one referred to just above. The one from Los Music is long gone.

they don't have it on their site but maybe if you sent them an e-mail they still might have it in their "private stock" (their stock is usually terribly overpriced and they do have several fakes in their collection but the EVH was original (taken in to account the buttugly headstock))
