Has anyone played the new 25th Ann. Charvel???

I got to play 1 of the 25th Ann. Charvel's a while back......Man it played incredible!!!!I wouldn't want it because I would want to play it & I think that is one of those guitars that should be kept in MINT condition.I was told that Eddie Van Halen signed the backs of the Seymour Duncan pickups in everyone of them!!!!So I am sure if that is true ....then they are sure to go up in Value.

The pickup in the 25th ann. Charvel is called a 78 custom & that is the pickup that Eddie & seymour built together back in the day.Its the same pickup he had on the black & yellow striped Charvel with the strat headstock.........so yeah I guess it is the Van Halen pickup.Man it sounds awesome!!!!I guess it would have to though if Eddie was going to play on it..

Thanks for the info. I hadn't read anything about Eddie signing those guitars. In some way, it is kind of surprising that Eddie would, in essence, sign a Charvel guitar (or a Duncan pickup) given his endorsement with Peavey.

If you get a 25th Anniversary, you'll have to post pics of the signature for us. [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

I own one of the charvel 25th's and the pickup is great!!! Next time I change strings i'll check the pickup.

Guys,

The pickup in that guitar is the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop EVH (Evenly Voiced Harmonics) pickup. I guarantee that EVH DID NOT sign the ones put in the 25th guitars because he had a beef with Seymour about unauthorized use of his name years ago. The rumor is that this pickup is based on a design Duncan/EVH worked on together, but of course, no one will confirm this, so who knows if it is true. It is a great sounding pickup however, and if you'd like to hear it in action, the clips in my sig were recorded with it...

Ok here are the specs of of the Jackson/Charvel website on the 25th Ann. Charvel & the pickup is not the custom shop EVH.....it is called the 78 Zebra which I am told by my source that Eddie & Seymour designed together back in 1978 0r 1979.Anyway here's the Specs right off the JAckson/Charvel website:

look on the SD website. the 'evh' and the '78 are the same pickup. also the zebra just refers to the coil colors. i have 2 guitars with that pickup. it sounds great.
