by the way... the eddie signature thing is BS. eddie restricted SD to making them only as custom orders and does not want to be associated with them, hence the 'evenly voiced harmonics'. i guess maybe calling them the '78 is a way to get around this eventually.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yeah, you're right, but it seems some want to insist they are getting something different and magical in the 25th. As you say, it is the same pickup as the EVH and you are right, it sounds great!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yup, correct again... I said this above as well. There is no way he would sign them since he had the beef with Seymour over using his name without permission...

Like I said before.....I don't know that it is true but my source says they have seen it, so once again I would like to find someone that has 1 that will confirm it, if it is true & show us pix.You would have to agree that if it is true.....it would help the value of the guitars alot I would think.I also know that he had problems with Seymour Duncan but things change....he had problems with Sammy Hagar but they are touring again so anything is possible I think.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yeah, ok, but you also said above that the pickup in the 25th is not the Duncan EVH and it clearly is since the '78 and the EVH are the same pickup. Anything is possible, but IMO this is just a silly rumor. EVH returning with an old singer has precedence (did it with Dave for the Best of), however, he is pretty adamant about people not using his name to sell gear unless they are paying him. Duncan did this years ago and Ed holds a grudge on this stuff. Hell, most eBay auctions for striped guitars are pulled because of him...

Re: Has anyone played the new 25th Ann. Charvel???

The idea of EVH signing this pickup sounds unbelievable to me, for several reasons, e.g., he has always been very protective of his gear and scornful of those who copy it, he has specifically slammed Charvel and Seymour Duncan in interviews for copying his gear, he has had no relationship with Fender in the past and has none now that I know of, he DOES have an apparently close and long-standing relationship with Peavey (with both signature guitars and amps), he has been very reclusive for many years now, with no apparent interest in reaching out to the guitar community or the public in general, this guitar really has very little to do with him (i.e., it's not any kind of EVH signature model, it doesn't look like anything he's played with the flametop sunburst finish, etc.), and Fender doesn't make this claim in its specs for this guitar (if it were true, they'd be shouting it from the rooftops, not hiding it).

The only fly in the ointment that says there could be a speck of truth to this, is the fact that Easton Guitars' site says the pickup is signed by EVH here.

I still trust my source what we need is someone to post some picks so this can be out in the open once & for all.I don't think Easton made a typo I think this is there comeback charvel & they did everything they could to make this a very special guitar & him signing the pickup would help.I beleive my source, but SEEING is it would be much better!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I think that is a simple screw up by the web guy. It probably should just say "Duncan EVH pickup". Either that or Easton is trying to make a buck off the gullible...

i know seymour duncan signs the back of the antiquity pickups (i have 2 in my les paul), and maybe other ones made in his custom shop, neither of my 'evh' pickups have his signature on them, just on the box. maybe SD signed the ones on the 25th guitars and someone got confused. it just doesnt seem logical for eddie to sign them. plus if he did they would most likely advertise the pickup as the 'evh' and not the '78. and why would they keep it under wraps? who is your source?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">you need to get new sources. kevin had one cracked openwhile i was at the shop on tuesday, and we were looking at the signature on the back of the pickup. it's most certainly seymour's signature.

I just got mine today. I bought it from Musician's Friend of all places! It's gorgeous! The wood and finish are incredible. I used to own the Charvel San Dimas Strat #1609. The one Tracy owns now. A 7- up green guitar with two cream humbuckers and a strat bridge. The neck is identical to that 1983 model. No difference.

Hi there this is my first post on the forum.

I called the infamous ER enquiring on the 25th Ann. s/n 2, and I was initially quoted $ 4,000.

I say, fair enough, it's the earliest available serial number, they want to charge a premium price.

I call again yesterday, almost resolved to buy it, and they tell me it's now $ 6,500!!!!
