ESP Japan still makes the Stars, especially like the one Akira has in that photo. It's the model RS-280.

Here's a closeup of the danelectro style headstock in case anyone wanted to check it out. This one is from my Edwards Akira Takasaki Randomstar. Edwards are made by ESP in Japan for the Japanese Market.
