<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">True! People ***** about J/C overall, if they play Fender. Because Fender is a mighty father of J/C now, and that means that J/C guitars are equivalent to Squier.

I think that J/C guitar slam traditional Fender guitars in no time. And guess what, Fender started copying the J/C's dinky idea by producing "heavy" Showmaster.

What I like about Charvel are the inovations. Not inovations in the sense of overreacting like BC Rich, which has tons of switches, but everything on Charvel guitars seems very practical and handy to me.
And Mod 6 is the sexiest Charvel guitar I have ever seen.

I think the neck profile/conture and oiled finish set the stardard of playability by which all other bolt on guitars should be judged.

one inovation i personally am greatful for is the fact that c/j carried the "hot rod " feel and look to the basses also.while i have never played any high line basses like alembic, pedulla , etc, all the fenders, gibson, etc, before the 80's i played were nothing like my custom shop or all the models series basses i have for that matter.c/j necks and electronics were like no others. i don't even own a charvel or jackson newer than 88! Re: coolest feature introduced by Charvel

                  Hi folks,

                  All is well and good.
                  One question comes to mind.
If they succeeded that much and got such a high contribution in the 80's and early 90's why people treat this as not high class guitar?

I have the Charvel 375DLX that I truly love and
                  I can't stand a Fender Stratocaster's neck,
and I can't tell why Fender is better.

I personally don't like this thing of Gibson is the best thing or Fender, or people saying one has no character and the other has fat tone which means warmer tone, what the hell?

Why do Fender and Gibson cost so much? I don't think it's justified. Why Fender Strat is better than let's say Charvel Model 6? I don't feel there's a much difference in build quality rather than different sound, or why Ibanez is more popular? I don't like much of Ibanez stuff to name a few only.

I don't like the dirt Fender has or the Muddiness of the Gibson Les Paul, I like the Round and Clean tone of the Charvel.

                  Just a thought...

Re: coolest feature introduced by Charvel

I think the biggest contribution that Charvel created wasn’t what it manufactured. Yes, Charvel took the once stagnate traditional guitars that was available at that time period and kicked it straight in the teeth. What Charvel gave to the Guitar world was a new attitude which is now somewhat “Mystic” or a cult status. We all know what great guitars they are and wonder what other people don’t get about them. Not everyone gets it and I’m ok with that. We show off pictures of them like proud parent of their kids. We look at each others guitars and give complements and its not that we haven’t seen an “i.e.: model 6” before, but we understand the “feeling” you get when you own one and give kudos’. I think Harley owners can understand this. I think most of us have other guitars than Charvels or Jacksons that are great guitars in their own right, but it is that C/J’s that have created a dysfunctional family that is know as the “JC Forum” than Wayne never envisioned when the first Charvel was built. Group hug everyone!

Re: coolest feature introduced by Charvel

I think what Charvel gave to guitarists (maybe not an inovation so sorry Tracy) has a lot to do with what Hoss said - a custom shop. BUT, what I think was important is that this allowed the professionals who had some commercial success (like those in the charvel ads, club scene, mtv) could get their cool custom guitars so we could all SEE them and WANT them.

Since I don't own a US Charvel I can't speak about how they play, but the lust that Charvel has created for their brand and its image - to me that's a big deal - and no doubt will be until I finally own one and can speak about their playability.
