Wow that's nice. I'm partial to zebras, but a double cream would be just as nice.

Very nice indeed! Looks like a quarter sawn maple neck! I bet she is pure tone! Congrats!

We did some intense pickup testing with Warren DeMartini a month or so ago. He brought in a few of his original Charvel guitars and we compared those pickups (all JB's) with an assortment of Duncan and DiMarzio pickups.

What blew me away was how his 15-20 yr old JB's sound almost exactly like the TB-14 Custom V.

        Just an interesting FYI....

All USA Charvel guitars (and USA Jackson guitars) feature quartersawn necks.

Still have some of that wood lying around? I do have a couple of mahogany-bodied customs on order.

I got that old mahogany specifically for the MZ run(s). I'm working on getting more.

All the wood we get is inspected when it arrives to make sure it is the proper grade, etc. Mike Shannon and Pablo then pull the best stuff for Custom Shop pieces, so your guitar will be made of great wood regardless!!!

Alrighty then. As always, I'll assume great wood for my alder and ash-bodied customs on order, too.

Interesting, because I hate the JB, think it's too bright, too much high mids and treble. I do like the Custom V my new Charvel Star. It has a slightly scooped midrange sound which gives it a nice, almost hollow-like, open sound which brings out the note definition of all the strings. I wish it were a little higher in output, but it's pretty good overall, matches nicely with the Jazz in the neck.

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

The JB and the Custom V both have Alnico magnets. Alnico loses some of it's strength and changes tonality over time, kind of like mellowing with age.

I think the Custom V sounds great, which is why I used it on the Charvel USA Standard models.
