  • More Charvel Dweezil problems...Uhhh!

I had just gotten my Charvel Dweezil back from the Charvel custom shop after the paint problems, chips in the body, frets sticking out from the board, and some other minor problems.......when I now notice the damn Floyd route wasn't cut properly and the tremelo is catching on the body! This is return trip #2 to the Charvel shop. What is going on there? Any of you guys/gals experiencing anything like this? Any other Dweezil problems? Talk to me.

I just went back to my 2004 Charvel Custom shop strat .....it's in the current catalog with the Zebra Tribal tech graphics and I noticed the same thing.....except on this guitar you could tell they took a chisel and just hacked away at the body to correct the problem...it looks real sloppy and amateur. Thanks Charvel.

That is a real downer, good luck sorting it out.

Can you Dremel the area that is rubbing? I don't remember if these were recessed or not. If it is catching inside the cavity, just Dremel it a bit. I'd rather do that than risk another 2 cross country trips.

              Hey Spider,

I feel bad considering you traded greenie spots with me and it really should be me having the problems...not bad enough to swap back though.
Wouldn't matter anyway as I have already knocked mine against a cabinet like a dumbass and put a ding in the tip of the pointy..I get sick every time I look at it.
              Hope everything gets fixed.

As someone who had problems with a Greenie, I feel it's fair if I chime in once again. The Custom Shop is building some fine guitars. Too many problems (IMO), but still some awsome guitars. It would be nice to know if they are trying to address what we as consumers see as problems. If it's a matter of not being able to turn out guitars with less problems occuring at the prices they are currently selling at, I would like to know that also. My guitar should have been sent back a second time also, but I threw in the towel. This is where I have a problem. Customer relations/satisfaction seems to be a lower priority than other things. I would like to know what all ranks above that.

Hope ya get your problem fixed dude ..

I moved all the other crap from here because it shouldn't detract from your problem
Don't worry - I'll smack her if it comes to that. You do not sell guitars to buy shoes. You skimp on food to buy shoes! ~Mrs Tekky 06-03-08~

Where did it get moved to? This was a valid discussion and shouldn't be killed off.

When things like this show up in the field, it would be great if someone could notify me and send me pics of the problem(s). I/we take this stuff very seriously and having complete info to work with can help us to make adjustments/corrections ASAP.

I have notified Tim Wilson and Mike Shannon as well.

If anyone has pics, please let me know!

                          Thanks!

My thoughts on that are that this is a forum and people should be able to say what they feel, as long as the discussion stays meaningful, which this thread had done IMO. I therefore think it is unreasonable for you to get "slapped" for allowing this discussion to take place...QC is a valid concern at this point.
When peoples thoughts and opinions on a hot topic are censored, it takes away from the experience of belonging to a board such as this.
That said, I don't envy your job Kev. I'm sure its a bitch but I think you and the other admins need to error on the side of letting topics run their course and not "directing" them. Perhaps there are some "behind the scenes" issues you must contend with that I am not aware of but I would hope not.

I and others have pictures, but due to the arms length customer service, I don't know who may or may not have seen the ones I submitted. My paint problem was taken care of in a somewhat timely manner. The trade off of neck dents, poor finish on sides of head stock, and scratched trem cover left me as a less than happy camper though. All was done through the selling dealer and an authorized repair center(shipping guitar back to the CS). I don't know what type of records are kept for returned guitars, but tracking the amount and types of problems should give an indication as to where the problems are occuring. Which I assume is already done??
