It wouldn't have to be intact, or even usable for that matter.
I'd love to get my hands on a f'd up body so I can use it to improve my painting skills.
Even if they just cut the neck pocket out of it so a neck couldn't be attached, but still intact enough to be a good learning tool.
Wishful thinking I'm sure, but it never hurts to ask.

I bought it out of California.

I would have bought the body, glued in the dowels and redrilled the body myself. I did ask what ws going to happen to the body, but don't remember what thier asnwer was. I do remember it wasn't an option. LOL
