Yeah, it seems weird. Where the heck did they come up with the design then. What are the chances that the EVH necks are just Fender Strat necks? heh.

I like my EVH. It's a Cool and interesting guitar. If anyone can help me, I'd like to get the 1st fret and 12th fret specs. If anyone knows them. I believe it to be slightly fatter than a SD Charvel. .810 to .850 at a guess.
I wish they would expand the line. The stripes are cool but I can't take the guitar on stage. You're pretty much a marked man with a striped guitar.
I want a neck puck up too.
I also think the guitar can be a touch too bottom end-y. I'd like to add a maple top.
Re; basswood. Ed started using basswood in '83 is with Kramer. Which is also where the current neck profile is comming from. If you listen to "Black and blue" you can really hear the basswood bottom end and warmth (less top end)
Compare it to some of the stuff off of VH-II where Ed was running a simpler Marshall set up. You can hear the differences.
Ed seems to like a very warm, round sound. The EVH art sort of get's you there. Right out of the box.
I'm personally not a huge fan of Ed's sound. I haven't been since he started using amps with lots of built in preamp gain.

Originally posted by danastas$750? Err, wow. I think they are way off. Look at the OFR and the EVH pickup alone, which is going for $100 used. Then add the paint (especially on the red one) which goes for $500 a gallon. You're already up to $300 before even getting to the body and neck.My goal in life is to be the kind of asshole my wife thinks I am.

So I'd say they are worth from $1000.00 to $1500.00, but definitely not the $2600.00 selling price. For that kind of money I can buy a hell of a lot more guitar than the EVH.
