Regardless of whether you're going to be keeping it in a glass case or gigging the bloody hell of out it, I think you should send it back even if you love how it plays and sounds. The one thing I've read over and over about the EVH Charvels from everyone who's played one is that they are all great-sounding and great-playing guitars, so I don't think you run much risk of getting a dud in return.

Besides, those guitars cost a lot of money for a 1-hum Floyded bolt-on. It's not like it's made out of 80-year-old Honduran Mahogany and Brazilian Rosewood, either. It's Basswood and Maple. There isn't a whole lot of overhead in materials cost, and it was always my impression that part of their cost was due to the quality custom paint job and close attention to detail in fit & finish.

Well, that and the "EVH" on the headstock, but I digress...

Looking forward to seeing pics. I'm very curious.

So you can see a different color in the trem cavity - is that it? That's no big deal. If you like the guitar, who cares?

Fender did that sort of thing for years. In fact, when they did some of their custom shop relic reissues they painted them burst first and then painted the color on top to be accurate.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

This thing has more problems than just it's two paint jobs. Atleast for the kind of money they cost imo.
A guitar would have to be a hell of a player for me to ignore QC that poor. My $.02

I'd be more concerned with the trem cavity than the paint/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/

I'd keep it, but I'd make them document it for me. Turn that lemon into lemonade man! Maybe it's the only one like it. You already said you were happy with it as an instrument. I say put a little leg-work in and insist they document it, Who knows, it may be the only RWBY ever

You could have listed in on eBay like the guy who claimed to have a 'wrong colour' red one and was asking a fortune. You could have claimed that it was the *only* "double finish" to have escaped the factory and had a BIN of $3500.

On a lesser expensive axe I'd say live with it, but for the dough you probably paid for that, definitely return it and bitch.

Exactly what I was thinking. Sure, Fender has painted over strats, but with a MAP of ~$2600, you should be able to hold the guitar to a higher standard. That extra $1500 or so has to count for something, no?

Up to you of you want to return. If it's going to be a player. Just play it and be happy. If you're one of those OCD types or collector types that plan on holding onto it as an "investment" then return that sucka!

I have an update! I got an email today from the dealer that sold me the EVH in question. He said that he spoke with FMIC today about the guitar in question. He was told that Eddie's original B/Y Charvel is infact RWB underneath so they are doing all of B/Y like that? Anybody here heard of this?

Absolutely not the case. The B&Y was always B&Y. The B&W was repainted to become the RWB. Hopefully somebody is just confused. I'd hate to think the guy really got that story from JCMI...
