I just recieved my new B/Y EVH. The neck is very cool it even has alot of small birdseye in it. The guitar is very well balenced and extremely resonant. Now for the negative, upon turning it over I cant believe what I see. It appears that this guitar at some point was a RBW and was refined B/Y.WTF I thought I was buying a first rate new instrument. I attempted to loosen the spring tension a little to find that the factory screwed the claw so tight aginst the body that it is imbeded into the paint and will need to be pried out perhaps removing paint in the process. You can actually see red, black and white paint spots in the trem cavity and where the trem arm bushing rubs aginst the inside of the route they had to sand it to bare wood to allow the trem to fit over the extra thick paint. What should I do Keep it or send it back? Will this hurt future resale value? I really like the tone and vibe of the guitar. I did not get any super good deal on ths guitar it was ok unfortunatly they do not have anymore in stock an informed me that they cannot order anymore? I guess we now know what JCMI did with the screwed up RWB EVH guitars?

I don't see it as a huge deal (Fender used to do it with custom colors over sunbursts) if you plan on playing it hard and you like the way it feels/sounds/plays...who cares what it looks like inside the trem route?
On the other hand, if this is something that you plan on keeping pristine, then maybe its an issue.
Another example of the wonderful work coming out of the Charvel facility.
