Flat black and yet another single hum layout? Cool if that's your bag. But, yep, that's yawns-ville IMHO.
The Candy Apple Red, 2-hum, ash-bodied run through Matt's Music will be much, much cooler.
Agreed.
But as a principle, and please take my comment in the context of neutrality iro of Charvel dealers, I'd rather buy a guitar chosen from a stock I can see, thus rewarding the dealer's risk appetite and committment to a brand I like, than buying upfront sight unseen, without having the option to try different guitars of the same small run and then, as it happened before, having to deal with quality issues.
Also agreed that, generally speaking, having dealer stock to choose from is a good thing.
That said, personally, I'd rather not rely on someone else's choice in finishes, trems, woods, etc., though. My preferences don't seem to line up well with what's been made available so far. (i.e., Pretty much nothing but single hum, maple/maple, and heavy on the death-themed graphics.) And I'd hate to see customers' custom orders and/or special runs possibly take a back seat to dealer stock orders.
