I had a Randall amp poster with Viv on it with his Black strat head Charvel with the gold shields and the pickup was non logo'd.It had standard poles and slugs.
      Really? well screw Mark Twain.

I remember some years back an interview with RJD. He said that he fired Viv because he just stood there, didn't move around, and was not adding any excitement to the shows. I can't remember where I read it tho.

I'm a big fan of Dio's talent, but I'd take what he says with a grain of salt. It seems like he comes up with different reasons for firing guys with every interview, and always says each new one is the "best guitarist I've ever played with", almost like he wants to rub it in the old guy's face. Viv was not a stiff on the stage at all, and there's plenty of live Dio vids on Youtube to prove it. It probably always boils down to $$ and creative control/differences when he cans a guy.

Your probably right. I've never really seen anything of his live so I don't personally know aboutit. I just remembered him saying that in an interview.
I have always like Viv's Dio studio stuff.

Yup this one Viv seems really into, and also a killer vocal performance by RJD.Can't see here why Dio would slag Viv for his stage presence:

There's a new book out entitled "Dio - Light Beyond the Black". The author is Martin Popoff and it deals with RJD's solo career/albums/bandmembers etc.... Some interesting quotes from Campbell regarding his departure from the band. According to Viv, it was all about the $$$. He claims he was making less than the sound and lighting guys.

Not sure if relevant, but the OP made me think of these pups:

I know he used something else (as these weren't even around then), just throwing it out there...

He used Duncans, and his Charvel had an Invader in it..
Bon Jovi is like a frozen Coca Cola.. It's cool, it's crunchy, but when all is said and done it is still pop....
