The one thing I would like to know is that in 20 years if someone sells one how will you know if it's mint? I mean if they get a ding or scratch in it it's not like you'll know.

Well, you could compare it to pics of the real Frankie if you´re anal enough
THIS thread should be a sticky!!! I see some hypocrisy on here from some members that said "the Charvel EVH Art Series" is a "rip-off"!! Quote, I can buy one from Warmoth and a can of spray-paint for $500 and have the same thing :ROTF: OR, Ed made his Frankinstrat for $200, why should I buy a Charvel for $2600? (you dont know your Charvel dealer very good, do you?) It's basswood with one pup and a Floyd. Make all the replaca's you want in your basement with a can of spray-paint that plays "just as good" (and there's nothing wrong with that!) But remember, your $500 dollar Warmoth strat, is still worth $500 dollars..............(and theres nothing wrong with that!)
"When a naked man is chasing a woman through an ally with a butcher's knife and a hard-on, I figure he isn't out collecting for the Red Cross"............ Dirty Harry
I dunno the pudds at Gibson and Fender have been RI'ing everything but the kitchen sink and the backroom toilet for quite a while now. I think I've bucked up for a few of them. That's all fine and good but it doesn't stop them from putting a gagillion dollar price tag on it. Then we get to the artist sig models everybody loves to crank out. I've bucked up for a few of them, too. Luckily during the last 10 years or so we've been lucky enough to get the "aged" or "reliced" or "beaten up" super replicated combination of the both; Page, Wylde, Hendricks, Townshend, Clapton X 2, and who-ever I forgot. I've never bought one of them, seems kind of pointless to buy a beaten up guitar as "brand new" but.....
In my brain the most recognizeable and famous single guitar IN HISTORY has got to be "The Frankenstrat". Simple as that. Gibslob wants $6-7-8K for a Sykes aged repro? WTF, anybody home? It's about time we got ourselves a EVH Frank-ih-repro-strat-o-coaster. I don't think I'm buying it but I'm glad ther making it. 'bout franken time.
Eddie got a little humped when he went to Peavey. I'm not bangin' on them. I love Peavey, but they don't have the outlandish gluttony of pure corprate greed that the fine executive folks [suckknobs] at Gibson and Fender have. Let's face it, it takes a hell-of-ah-lotta balls to hang that big of a price tag on a guitar and keep a straight face.
If anybody really deserves to be honored with a ridiculously expensive repro, even if it's nothing more than a curio to most of us,..it's Ed.
