  • Here's some pages from the magazine. I think you should be able to read it ok (that 'size' button thing should open at the bottom lower corner in explorer and click that to make the pic bigger). I had to fax to myself and convert from tif to jpg.

I know alot of people who grew up in that era and are EVH fans... not sure any of them are making 6 figures though!

      • That's a good point, Jeff. I was thinking the same thing when I saw the cover. They're hyping up the "return" of EVH like they did in '04, which ended up being a big disappointment. A bunch of talk about a Summer tour, and everyone thinking it will be with DLR, but just like '04, it won't be. But now it's got me thinking, Blackie was just released in November and I didn't see Clapton all over GW or all this hoopla about it, yet all 100 sold in 7 hours. Just some observations, carry on........

Edit - I know I'm not making that, Matt. If so, I'd have a couple CS orders in with you.

Someone tell me what's on the cover of Guitar One this month.

          • Ha, I just checked the G1 site and there's Clapton on the new issue. Although it's a little different since the Blackies are already built and sold plus it's just an old pic of him. But it doesn't matter, after you subscribe to these mags for a while, you realize it's all marketing BS. I don't know how many times I've read a glowing review about some piece of gear, then flipped the page and there's an ad for it.

I just wish there was a Consumer Reports-type of mag for guitar gear, with unbiased reviews.

            • These are cool. For the ultimate EVH fan with alot of disposable income, this may be the grail. I love Eddie to death, but even if I had the money this would be beyond reason for me. For ME, maybe not for YOU. When I spend 30k on something it generally has wheels.

I think they will make great investments and will only appreciate. Look at what happened with the new GT500. Before one even hit a showroom floor, with an MSRP right around 50k, Barrett-Jackson gets $700k for one at auction. $700k for a Mustang with upgrades that anyone could have done themselves. Why? Carroll Shelby, that is why. Now, forget about a GT500 for under 120k, and the little GT350s are in the 60k zone.

EVH is the Carroll Shelby of the guitar world. They both built cobbled together hotrods that ANYONE could build themselves, but they were the originals.

So, Shawn, will you be getting one?

              Mike
Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

                I love the speculation!

Let me say this. There was an awesome HAND STRIPED EVH on ebay a week ago that didnt grab a single bid at $17k. Not one. And there were only maybe 80 of those made. And those were MADE by EVH. Played by EVH. Signed by EVH. Pictures of your guitar with EVH. He may not have liked them, but he played them.

I am not remotely down with this mess. I think theyve blown a gasket, and I could buy one at cost.(noone you all know).

I also dont know anyone buying one. Not that I know everybody, but I know most of the people around here that would/could.As far as I am concerned, they have rung my doorbell one too many times on this one, and this time, I'm not answering.

AND, if you think youre gonna snap up a NAMM guitar, better get that home equity line updated. You wont believe it.

Insanity I say. I'll stick with these for $1500 apiece, or my EVH Art Series, which are awesome guitars, and now, look like one hell of a value packed deal, no?

                • Yeah, I hear you. I like my Frankie that I put together for less than $500. Of course, it is not appreciating in value.

As far as appreciating, exactly how much is a $25k bolt on, one of 300 (Of this color..Think you'll see the other colors?) gonna appreciate? One that he never even touched?

Thats risky biz in my opinion.

The comment you put your question to was relating to the cover of Guitar World, which is:

I'm not sure what's on the cover of Guitar One that you asked about

I'm with Shawn on this. If I were to blow that much coin on one guitar, it would be on one of the hand-striped runs that he made & played.

Nonetheless, I'm sure they'll be cool and successful anyway.

                          • I think I'll try to get the jump on the Chinese companies on this that will be selling the knockoffs on fleabay...

All I need is about $1000 in Warmoth parts, some space tape, and a sparkle sticker 5150 logo.

                            My investment: $1100
                            Sell on eGay for: $25,000
                            My profit: $23,900

                            Not bad.

One would be naive to think that TV and print have not already been slave to big companies for many decades now...

                              • I'll chime in a little on this. I wanted one of these since the day they were announced(way back when the EVH AS was announced). At 1st there were supposed to be 100 at what everyone thought was gonna be around 10k, at that price and those numbers I was in. Then about a week ago I started to hear 25K and 300. If you don't know I have a hand striped EVH and I thought this would have been a cool companion piece for it, yes to put in a case on the wall.

Here is what killed it for me, the numbers being made. To me 300 is way too many, if it were a smaller run 25-50(or less), I would be in, but at 300 no way. I still believe my hand striped is a way more special piece. That is a guitar that was at Ed's house where he handled it/taped it/painted it/ played in concert. These replicas are just copies of a guitar he sent them, that was the extent of his involvement.
Come and get one in the yarbles, if you have any yarbles, you yunick jelly thou!
