Your handstriped IS a much more unique piece. Those are the ultimate in my eyes.

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

Ahhh! I think I see the point of your question! Feb '07 Guitar One has Eric Clapton

They have stories behind 10 of his guitars. There was only a small section that mentioned the $20,000 Blackie guitars. Nothing like the knee-pads GW used for EVH.

      • Not knocking the price or the guitar, but those "overpriced" EVH Charvel's are starting to look like a "deal" now, arnt they?? (I need one more)

I ended up holding off untill now (the last few months). I just couldn't see bucking up the going rate price of $2640. I just picked up all three new on closeout from a big internet dealer for dirt cheap. I'm thrilled with them all!

Huh, seems like everyone I checked wanted top dollar for them. I ended up getting three brand new sealed ones now for less than the price of two back then. ching

              • So I guess Eddy was not pleased with Jackson Charvel's custom shop and had it made a Fender custom deal not including the Charvel or jackson name in any way.
I know its the same company now but this guitar was listed in the old Charvel price list and now its exclusivley Fender/EVHGEAR there must be some big QC issues that even Ed notices.

                    • Since we're all guessing here, my guess is that the Frankie project was started before Ed & Fender made the deal for Ed to get his own whole product line. Now that he has his own line, the Frankie is a great way to make a big marketing splash. If he really had a problem with the QC on the J/C side, he probably wouldn't have had those guys build the Frankies. JMO.

                      • Correct me if I am wrong thats not Mike Shannon or a J/C luthier in the article its a Fender CS luthier.

                        • If you mean by Chip being an FMIC employee your right. If you mean he works on the Fender side building strats your wrong. Chip is a Jackson/Charvel man.

                            • At the Guitar center in king of Prussia PA this local dude made a replica of it and its like perfectly identical to it for 2,000 bucks i think i might go buy it rather than $20k on a new one
