I've heard from a couple of different sources that there are still Blackies available through GC, even though there was a press release bragging about them selling out in 7 hours. Not sure if it was pre-orders that weren't followed through on or just marketing BS. These Frankies may very well sell out, though. I bet a good chunk of them of them will end up overseas.

I know for a fact there some are Blackies still available at some GCs, how I know? Cause I asked, just for shit and giggles.
Where there are plenty more is overseas, far less sold on the first hype wave than on the states. Remember half went for sale in the USA and the other half went to the rest of the world.
One already hit evilbay and I read on the FDP that it sold somewhere between $15k and $20k.Mr. Patience.... ask for a free consultation.

So what if the the neck pocket says "Fender"

I bet I can call a Fender custom shop dealer and get this guitar but wait there all the same as Jackson Charvel dealer?
What I mean is I can call a dealer that is a well known Fender custom shop dealer and I am sure he can get me this guitar even though the store may not carry J/C guitars.
By the way if I can score this guitar for under 8k I may consider it but I want the SRV guitar first.Last edited by AK47; 01-21-2007, 06:57 PM.

I hope with all the Clones and Forgeries of guitars these days, that FMIC has taken consideration to protect what will probably be the easiest guitar in the history of guitars to forge. With the price and quantity they have put on this guitar, it will bring the creeps out of the cracks. There will be more of these forged guitars than anything we have previously seen on EGAY or here. Get ready for some fun.Custom Guitars, Refinish and restorations.

Ed's lawyers pulls any striped copy of his guitar on Ebay faster then you can put them on there..........but I do understand your post."When a naked man is chasing a woman through an ally with a butcher's knife and a hard-on, I figure he isn't out collecting for the Red Cross"............ 100% Charvel Body

Wayne taught Lynn, Wayne distributed the guitar as Fender is doing today..
Does not really matter if Wayne built the body or not. not really..But the Fact is Wayne did build the body..That guitar is more Charvel than most others under the Jackson ownership..
FACT - Wayne played and major part in the guitar.....I just like truth and facts...and I beleive in Tom Anderson's assement of the body..Tom did some work on the guitar for Eddie...Tom knows how to ID a body that was made from Schecters templates and tooling setup for Wayne and he has shared those facts...A solid statement from Tom Anderson and I believe Tom is straight up 100% correct..... Tom said he could not ID the neck but the body he is sure.
Same goes for the VHII. Wayne Charvel --
I am not a big Wayne Charvel fan- But a Charvel Mfg. Fan 100%

Frankie Body is 100% Charvel -Quote
Quote from Tom Anderson " That was a Charvel body, heavy ash, made from the tooling that Dave Schecter set up for Wayne. had a quarter under the Floyd, maybe to make it sit level. the bridge was a full quarter inch too far back, never could have intonated. I moved the bridge up to where it should have been, I left the quarter. we made a Hocky stick neck for it. Benny, of the shop, painted it to match the old one. When we put the guitar back together, I read the pickup to see what it was. It read open on an ohm meter. I about died, I thought I had broken the famous pickup. Turns out it was fine, really weak, really bright. we took turns trying to sound like ed playing through my 4-10 Bassman. We didn't get close.
Hossman, I checked out the site, and you've got some great history there. The one thing I saw missing was that Dave Schecter was down there hooking up some of the machines and making copies of his templates for Wayne to use. The Van Halen body was made from those. Dave's templates had a bump in the neck pocket where the tension rod is. That's a way to tell where they came from."
Benny from the shop said "The guitar sounded really good through the 4-10 Bassman even though the pickup was super weak."

Hey all, I'm new here, and mostly collect Kramers, but I will say this.. I have a few select orig strat heads, and I also have the Newer 25th anniversaries, and two bulls-eyes, one that was on here when the owner added a second pup and had it painted red. Well my point is, that I see no loss in quality from pre fender to post fender Charvel. I truly don't. With Kramers, sure, Jackson's I know nothing about, but Even fender pros will tell you that selling your original 60's strat and replacing it with a custom shop relic is a painless transition, and usually you will even end up with a better playing instrument then your original.
Next, Ed's geetar.
Why can they replicate the feel tone and finish of a 50 year old strat for around 4k retail yet this Mutt is costing over 20K. And remember there are many people who can tell you what a 57 strat feels like to critique the finished product, but who is EVER going to touch Frankie and say its more like this or that? who knows what your holding... Again, I cant see a custom shop costing 4-5 grand tops, at retail, and then needing to add 15 grand more for anything else then Hype.
I don't care what your financial position is, its not a smart spend IMO. Like baseball cards, and bands Like Kiss, the demographic of EVH fans has certainly hit their financial peak, and then some maybe. Is ed Really going to have sales Pull Like Clapton and for how long? In a few years No kids brought up on Playstation and Ipods will even know of eddie. The handfull of welthy 80's guys are going to be in there twilight before this guitar matures.

For that price the guitar should have been a very limited edition of maybe around 20. That way there would be a demand for them, people who wanted them wouldn't have been able to get em. I can't imagine these guitars will hold their value, much less appreciate. Who in 20+ years is gonna still want one? A bunch of 65 year olds? If anything happens to Ed the next day there will be 200+ of these for sale, so much for "rare".

EVH is basically the Babe Ruth of electric rock guitar. His legacy will live on as long as Rock n' Roll lives on. It will be people like us who were hooked on the electric guitar the first time we saw/heard one (every generation has them) who will keep it alive, not those Playstation kids you mention. I think the "Frankie" replica will be worth WAY more than 25k in the future.
