nah, tim, not really. some of my reply is tongue in cheek, but i can't imagine weighing a guitar (although i know it's done). but i will most certainly say that the intense level of my screwcounting with big red was carried out partially because i knew i had to for a few reasons. and yes, there were guitars that i corrected before they got shipped out to their owners.

me either. however, the last guitarist i played with had back issues and it *really* mattered to him. even a pound made a difference. and he was not some little wuss boy, he just had a back injury.

FWIW here is what was requested, guess my pointwas missed again as usual .. it wasn't about pissing anyone off it was about what is written in the first topic. " All this info is purely voluntary"

Given the fact that this point wasn't understood this will be the last serial # I share publicly now. I will certainly share gutars but I will never give the rest of the info from here on out. All it was ever about was being asked if i wanted something "I" worked and paid for to be included in a public record ...

            Mayday,
I certainly understand what you are saying and it is probably better policy not to mention serial #, however I would like to add that the MZ runs are more 'public' than other CS items. When the H/S was first announced, I called MZ and was the first to put down $. I knew, based on busdriver's list (and also owning sequence #012 from the first run), that the MZ runs had sequencial serial numbers, and the first one of the run had a serial number ending in "1", 2nd one ending "2" and so on. So I told MZ since I was 1st to call and 1st to put $ down, I wanted serial XXX1 and they said OK.

When the guitar arrived at MZ, they called and confirmed I was getting 7431, and told me the rest of the numbers were 7432, 7433, 7434...7440. They told me mine was the 71st one in the TMZ sequence and would have TMZ071 on the back, and the rest would be 072, 073, etc going up along with the serial number.

That same day (Dec 11th), I PM'd this info to busdriver and told him I'd send him a pic (which I did on Dec 18th when it arrived). So based on my info, busdriver knew what the 10 serial numbers and sequence numbers would be. So I guess some of your frustration with busdriver should rest on me, however, when you look at his list, there is nothing there that tells who the owner of the guitar is.

No one would have known which of the 10 H/S was yours if you didn't mention the #, so not sharing the number publicly is probably a good idea going forward.

So Kev, what you think of the guitar?

And are you gonna paint it?

It's the most resonant guitar I've owned. The neck is really nice and has a great profile that is similar to my 25th. It has great fret work and this is a guitar I'm very impressed with ..

I've always wanted an oiled mahogany 95 reissue and then I saw these. To me this is what those guitars should have been.

With all the positive there also comes negative but it is really tough to point fingers on this one. The guitar got shipped in the coldest weather of the year. sitting in the cold and getting banged around has appeared to cause some checking in the clear coat on the headstock.

I took pictures and sent them off too MusicZoo. They had an amicable resolution and gave me serval ways to make it right. I have to say MZ's service is topnotch and they have a lot to be proud of when they treat customers that well .......

As far as my former serial # comment ... let's just say I have a Custom that is trekking across country

There's clearcoat on the headstock? That's an interesting detail, because at least the first MZ batch has no clear coat at all.

That clearcoat checking also happened to one of my guitars when they shipped it from the Namm directly to Europe. It's very difficult to see, though.

yes it only shows in the light ..I was surpised when I sat down and noticed it ... I was rather pissed off because I really love the sound and tone of the guitar, I simply was torn about sending it back

MZ took care of me though ..they are great guys over there

BTW it isn't a glossy clear ..it's a flatter satin type finish

As a side, if you order a new Carvin with the whole guitar tung oiled, the front of the headstock will have a satin matte clearcoat finish on it. I am not sure why they can`t oil the front of the headstock, but it seams they can`t? Maybe a logo issue? Jack.

The logos are decals. Yes, they clear/satin the headstock face to protect the logo. Otherwise, they'll eventually dry up and flake off.
