Perhaps the orginal graphic on the headstock is slightly different and allows for the proper placement of the logo? Is it any better after the refinish? Regardless of the problems I still think it is a great guitar.

James bought this over to my house today so I could check it out.
I must say , very nice. the neck shape is relly nice and besides the gap in the neck pocket I couldn't see any other issues. He's got the action so low on this thing it's ridiculous. :ROTF:
Sounded great thru my 5150If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

I gave in and bought one I love it, it arrived today. Too very small issues the high E string buzzes and frets out at the first fret. I requested one with the smallest neck gap pocket and it had a slight gap but its almost nothing in fact no one else thought it was even an imperfection, what it is my theory is the maple neck is very temperamental I am going to have my tech adjust it but this guitar is awesome and I recommend that anyone that wants it not to hold back please call Matt.
Especially with the no artisit replica policy even if you did not like your sub camo you could flip it for profit in Japan very easily.

Great guitar , top notch graphic, it sounds amazing, it plays great, I have a couple of San Dimas Charvels from the past and this out plays them in my opinion ( as far as weight this thing is light compared to my Kamakaze's ). Slight gap on the very bottom of the neck pocket on mine as well but nothing I stressed over didn't even notice it at first and other than that no problems whatsoever , must say I was a little worried before I recieved it wasn't sure what to expect , my first new guitar in a long time and I am very happy with it and would recomend it to anyone in the market for a graphic Charvel especialy with the price hike of the new custom shop guitars.

Finish is killer. Neck is very nice and the fret dress appears to be top notch. They are still "heavy" (which is relative, but these are not light-weight by any definition - I do not believe that the bodies were re-built). Anyway, the weight issue was never a big deal with me as I prefer heavy guitars.
Certain little things were done properly (tuners, knob placement, no custom shop logo, clean floyd nut install, non-recessed trem, non-loged pups etc.). Also, major plus here, guitar was shipped one month after final set up, not 3-6 months, so it did not need much of a tweek.
And oh yeah, it sounds killer through my Line 6 home rig. I am planning to use it at practice next week so we will see how she sounds through a mesa rig.
Only real negative - the neck pocket is gapped big time on each side like that HRF that recently was a big deal (I am not sure if the thread was killed, but you know what I am talking about). I honestly do not think I would have noticed it quickly if this had not been such a big deal before.
There does appear to be an issue with the neck pup alignment, but these were spec'd as non f-spaced (and I guess there is no such thing as an f-spaced single anyway) and my '86 s-head has exactly the same issue with the location of the front pup so it is not a big deal to me either. Alignment of the bridge hum seems fine to me (not perfect, but it is not f-spaced).
Also, I am very, very greatful to Matt for stepping up and getting the replacement cases and we will leave it at that.
Very cool guitar on the whole and its too bad that this run will forever be tainted. Also, I will say that the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth for reasons we do not need to dredge up at this point. Suffice it to say that I think that fender has gotten the last my money.
Just being honest.
Pics to follow if people are actually interested (Matt's pics pretty much tell the story, although my trem springs seem correctly located so ???).
Good to hear overall that you like it. Funny, that my HRF is tight
and perfect. I guess i lucked out. No false frets, and great harmonics
so i guess the neck pocket is set well?
