How common is brazilian rosewood as fretboard wood with Charvels?

  • #2
I have not heard of any.
Fender has a CS time machine Braz Mahog series for stupid money and they could be sharing the stash if some Charvels are out with it.

Meanwhile, in Brazil they are dealing with poaching, deforestation and smuggling their rosewood to other countries. Here, they charge sh*tloads for a brazilian rosewood which may or may not affect the tone of the guitar as such!

I love the RW board on my San Dimas. Its 2X as thick as any Strat ive owned and if anyone knows has some beautiful black grain streaking throughout the entire board & as well as some dark brown, lighter brown and orange hues.

You can still import Brazilian rosewood if it was "naturaully fell" I think is the expresion. If the tree dies of disease or lightning strike or the bark sheds sometimes. This is how PRS gets new Brazilian rosewood.
