Hi, I am a noob here and I have been poking around the forum for the last few weeks. I am probably the same as many of you. I am 36 and when I was a kid, as much as I wanted one, I just could not afford an SD Charvel. When I found out that Fender was going to re-issue them, I was stoked. I just ordered a new/leftover hot-rod flame pointy head that is identical to the one on the Charvel website. A dealer had it and it had been stored in it's case and never played. It is arriving via UPS tomorrow. I am completely phsyched, but I was bummed out to read all of the posts here knocking the quality of these guitars. What's the deal. I hope I didn't just make a very expensive mistake. Thanks for any info.

Nah dude, don't worry.
Sure there have been some stinkers lately, much more than we care to see.
I have no less than 8 of the new generation and I only one had a small, fixable, issue with one of them.
You are geeting a cool axe with my favorite graphic of all time.
Let us know how it turned out.Mr. Patience.... ask for a free consultation.

Don't sweat it! There are been some new Charvels that had issues, but there have also been a whloe bunch that were fine. Of course we hear alot more about the problems. You should be fine. Check it out really good when you receive it and if it has issues then send it back.

It's here!!!!!!
Well, I just opened the box. All I can say is.....WOW!!!!! It is gorgeous!!! Everything is mint. Vey minimal gap in the neck pocket, all the controls work, the selling dealer had smoothed the fret ends and set it up before shipping. I tuned it up and noodled around for a while. The neck is incredible. The only thing I noticed was that the springs for the floyd have a bit of echo on a couple of higher notes. I remember this happening on my old Kramers. If memory serves, I think I used to put some kind of runbber sleeve around the springs to stop it. Does that sound right? The wife and kids are asleep, so the Splawn test will have to wait until tomorrow. So far, I am very pleased with my purchase. Thanks for all your help.

And the funny part is these were taken with a 2000 model Sony Mavica!
Floppy discs! And still it takes great pics. Makes me wonder what
a 7 year newer camera would be like in picture quality?
