Except for the "Masterbuilt Only" BS, I don't see much in the way of price changes.

And requiring "MB Only" seems kind of arbitrary for some options. For instance, body binding is only an $85 option charge, but requires the MB only base increase. Yet neck/head binding doesn't. ...Ummm, huh?

Boy, am I glad I got as many orders in before this came into effect. No use b**ching, we'll just have to accept it. Buy or don't buy - that's always your choice.

P.S.- Someone tell them that a Dimarzio Super3 is not a single coil. And they ought to add more 'Zos than that to the 'bucker side. Evolution, PAF, etc.

$50 upcharge for Basswood and $165 for Poplar (MB only)

They are out of their minds!

I think the prices are reasonable.

However (AND THIS IS A BIGGIE) the Masterbuilt Only exceptions are NOT reasonable. They throw everything into 100% price increase territory.

If they got rid of the MB Only on most options, this wouldn't be that bad.

Fender is charging over $3k for team built strats. Thta's not what bugs me. If I want a simple extra option, it's going to cost $2300 over the base price of $5000 (albeit, with a 30-35% discount through dealer). That's just nuts.

We're talking $4000 PAID for a guitar with a few options extra.

          No thanks.

Glad I play right handed. Left handed players get the MB charge. Fucking ridiculous.
            We must!
            We must!
            We must increase the bust!

I guess this is where we see how many people vote with their feet. I know I have absolutely no intention of ordering any more CS guitars from J/C at the moment.

I'll just stick to checking ebay and websites for guitars I like at a price I can live with - that way any spec or build problems are someone else's concern....

There are plenty of other increases - on first cursory glance, most of the options that were $150 in Jan are $165, the body wood charges are new or increased, the finishes are significantly higher in some instances.
These are all on top of the 06 to 07 January price list increase

I already said sayonara at the new prices, I had 2 specced out to buy earlier this year and couldn't justify the price. They have really just gotten them in line with Fender Custom Shop pricing but it's still a lot of coin.

$55 for Schaller straplocks. Even if they give a 50% discount, that's over $25 for freaking straplocks. I got mine at Guitar Center for $10.

$85 for a battery box. That's like $1 for the box and $84 to install it?

$2000 for a camo paint job???

$900 for a maple top? I can buy enough quilted maple for solid quilted wings for 900 or less.

I can get Neal Moser to build me a completely handbuild, every fucking spec to my liking, guitar starting at $3k. That's still expensive, but at least it'll be what I want.

I am currently pricing out a new Charvel. I have wanted this guitar for the past couple of years and was all set to place the order through Matt and then that was not an option and suddenly other dealers had cold feet. I believe the new price guide was the reason. Many of our favorite graphics are nolonger listed ie: Bengals, SnakeSkin etc. I have a dealer that has been in contact directly with the CS and it looks like my Copperhead Charvel may not get built if these fall under the MB lable. I think the Charvel brand is done as we now it. if these guitars actually have a $5000.00 list they can keep them I also will buy used!

Wow - assuming my old Charvel is alder, it would cost $6,182 list to duplicate it. Maybe more if I've missed something. That is a lot of $$$ - more than I could pay if I wanted to. And there's no way I'd get $6,000+ from insurance if mine was stolen or my house caught on fire. Glad I got on board when I did.

Wow, if you want a flame maple neck (or birdseye) that becomes MB, so that option is $2315 ($2000 for MB, $315 for the flame/birdseye).

All my Robin guitars came with flame maple necks. For only $80 more than this 'option' you can buy this complete Robin guitar!:

this kind of absurd pricing is plain and simple arrogance on FMIC's part.

either someone wants to kill the Charvel brand, or they really don't care if they sell only about 20% of their prior volume.

it's astonishing to me how FMIC can do so well with Fender and provide many cost effective good quality guitars under that marque and then turn around and totally wreck the Charvel name.

from MLearn's comments of recent, it appears new people took over JCMI's operating unit within FMIC recently and they are just running roughshod over what used to make sense (pls correct me if I'm getting this part wrong...).

either way, it's stupid and sad.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives
