  • Copperhead/molested at GC

I had a Charvel Copperhead sent to a local GC over the weekend on the promise that it was perfect and they would cut me a graet deal. Not! I went over today to check it out and just as I had expected it was all fucked up. There idea of perfect is as follows ie: no clamps on the locking nut, no trem arm, clear lifting from the headstock from being banged into something, a missing string and no G&G case or case candy/warrenty card. They actually looked suprised when I said this thing is trashed how can you guys treat guitars like this? He then asked if I still want it. I replied with fuck no and take that price tag off it is worth less then half of that.

Was this the one I told you about that was at Sherman Oaks GC? When my friend saw it there they told him it had the case and candy. He never had them get it down from 30 feet up on the wall, so he didn't notice the lock-nuts or headstock & string issues.

I can't believe they thought that was in perfect condition! What price were they hinting at with you?

This may have been the one I told him about that was here in the Twin Cities. I had actually played it in the Roseville store, but saw it again in the Edina store about a year or more later. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a close look at it at that time.

That would make sense as I spoke to my friend that saw the one at Sherman Oaks CA store, and it turns out he did have it in his hand and it was mint and was not missing any parts or strings.

The one that had been abused was from San Marcos.I actually picked up the one in Sherman Oaks Saturday. That store was way too busy and loud to give it a proper once over at the store. It looked really clean aside from a lightly soiled back of the neck. They did not have the case or the case candy and Hang tag but the guitar is mint it. I figured it is Guitar Center i have 30 days to check it out in the comfort of my own home. I wish I knew how to post pics.

Am I the only one that thinks this is far from being molested? All that is actually wrong with the guitar is the clear lifting from the headstock.

Missing locking clamps, trem arm, and particularly the string? That's nothing. If you asked, I bet they'd dig around their parts drawer and pull them out (every GC has one of these that I've been to). I'm sure they'd toss you set of strings too.

Case candy? LOL - it's stupid hang tag, wipe cloth, 13 cents worth of allen wrenches.

I could see the case being annoying too. But nothing you described deserves a "fuck no" or declaring it's worth less than half as much (although you didn't say what it is half of).

Heck, people buy full on custom shop guitars that arrive in worse shape than that
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

I was going to post something similar but it seemed pointless then.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

It does deserve a FUCK NO when they tell you it is mint and will be here in 2 days. It was clearly floor model beater they were trying to get retail for. I drove for 2hrs and got one mint for alot less$$$. Another thing these GC salesmen are back to selling guitars/ high end without a case.I had to argue that these Charvels are all shipped in a G&G case etc. I would have pay'ed extra just give me the case and stuff it was shipped with.
