  • Pointy/ neck pocket shim?

I recently aquired a new pointy that has a 1/8 gap between the neck and the rear base of the pocket. Probably about a 1/2 inch of the bottom of the neck and the seat of the neck pocket are gapped. Is this common on the new pointies. is it the shim?

    Got any pics?
It's possible it was shimmed, but if those measurements are correct, the neck pocket should have been corrected or the entire body rebuilt.

When did they use toothpicks for shims? They used them for strap hole buttons.

If that's a new guitar, that had better not be common. The only times I mess around with shims is with matchbook paper, chopped credit cards, or business cards. If they had to shim that neck with a gap like that, all I can say is so much for the vibes to go through the complete guitar.
I am a true ass set to this board.
