FYI, I'm not currently taking new orders for custom shop guitars because of things like this and if I had shipped this to a customer before catching the problem, I would immediately send UPS out to pick up the guitar on my dime.
I say hats off to Matt and those like him. Faced with ever decreasing quality and support, an end dealer of any item has a tough time these days. To keep a business growing, or even going, an owner has to take hits from all sides and then some. Our only hope (as consumers) is people like him who help to keep shit rolling back up the hill so it may eventually land where it belongs...in the lap of the manufacturer.
